Hmmm, playing in a career using the realname database(vrais_nom or something like that)
In the 2010 Tour de France, all the stages seem a bit whacky/out there...i did recently install some other databases(PCMdaily and another) but not sure if thats what is causing my issue. Here is a description of the stages....The Giro and Vuelta were perfectly normal for 2010 after playing the Giro and looking over the Vuelta, nothing crazy...but the TdF is all messed up.
Stage 1 - Listed as 8km time trial, however when playing it it was a 36km Mountain Time Trial, with one hell of a mountain climb(16km at 6.1%)
Stage 2 - Labeled a flat stage even though its 214km with 3 nice sized climbs
Stage 3 -4 - Looked fine
Stage 5 - 63 km team time trial is what it was described although the profile did not fit the description. In game it was actually a 156km Team Time Trial...talk about ridiculous, all the teams stayed together and of course my custom team won with a 6 minute advantage after a 4hr ttt...heck my team of all 70+ tt's ran out of energy at 30% effort after about 80km's=) In fact i guarantee everyone rode at least 70km's on no energy...
Stage 6 - Listed as a flat stage even though it had 3 massive climbs with a mountain top finish after a 20+ km climb. I simulated this and Mark Cavendish came in 7th after the breakaway succeeded with a 6 minute advantage.
Stage 7 - listed as a hilly stage although its a mountain top finish with probably a 8% final climb.
Stage 8 - listed as a flat stage even though it has 7 good sized climbs
Stage 9 - Profile might match, listed as a flat stage and its pretty flat except for a small climb at the end
Stage 10 - Rest day on my calender although the profile shows a 198km time trial.....!!!
Stage 11 - Listed as a mountain stage, however has about 50km of cobblestones and no mountains whatsoever, the cobblestones should make things interesting
Stage 12 - fine
Stage 13 - listed as flat, should be hilly
Stage 14 - listed as a mountain stage, completely flat
Stage 15-17 - fine
Stage 18-19 - both listed as flat, although one is a mtn top finish
Stage 20-21 should be fine
I do not get what has happened, as all the other grand tours are fine, and none of the smaller tours has any issues, its just the TdF...
any ideas? Anyway to fix or find out what has happened? |

read my story and you will see the problem. I have the exact same problem. Stage 20 for me was a 167 km tt that has the profile of a regular stage.

I think the issue is probably that the the data for the stages in the Variant file does not correlate with the stage files it wants to use for some of the stages

Yep seems we have the exact same problems with the tour, its making the 2010 tdf somewhat unplayable and i like playing the stage not simulating them=( You could easily gain 20+ minutes on stage 5 if you just sit it at 50% and just sit back, i was doing 20-30% trying to see if it could make the whole stage without running out of energy, and i still ran out of energy with a lot of distance to do, heck i think there were cases of 3 teams all together and my team passed like 4-5 teams. Only Astana was close timewise. |

Sounds like Cyanide totally screwed up that variant file.
It's got nothing to do with any of the DBs, though, as none of them has toyed with the variants yet. |

grrr cyanide, well geuss it will just be one heck of a funky tour...maybe someone will fix the variants for cyanide since they cannot seem to do it correctly from the beginning. |

It's not Cyanides fault. It's PCMClubs, they haven't change the variant correct. They've just replaced the stages, not in the variant-file itself.

PCMClub has just replaced the old stages with new ones. To solve the problem you can use the original v2_grandtour_france stages. The ones that follow with the game.
That shoud work.

I have put back the original cm_stages folder back into the pcm directory but nothing has changed with the tour, the same race profiles are shown, so that is not working for me unless i missed something. |

Seeing in another thread that you've now finished the Tour, I'd recommend doing the following:
1. Copy the original CM_Stages folder back (as you've already done)
2. Copy the original CM_Stages/variants folder back (as you may already have done)
3. Start a new save game with the same DB as the one you're using now. Advance a day and close the game.
4. Open the two save games (your current one and the one you just started) with Full Editor V4 (also known as Advanced Editor).
5. Go to the Exports folder and open the folder with your newly created save game. Copy DYN_variant_date and DYN_variant_stage to your 'old' save game.
6. Export and continue with your old save game (which will now use the original variants). |
