Etoile de Besseges - Stage 4
mrlol
Todays 128km are mostly flat, but still there's 20 KOM points on offer. The bookies favour Corioni again, before Bongiorno and Swift.

You migth not expect it, but it was actually Tom Last who made the first attack. He got Iannetti, Sabido, Martins, Fuglsang, Ulanowski, Froome and Timofeev with him.

At the first sprint it's Ulanowski who takes it before Froome and Iannetti. Vespa makes sure to control the break at 5'30
Further up at the first KOM sprint, both Last and Ulanowski go for it. And they both fail. Sabido takes it in front of Last and Froome.

Ginanni has foind an ally in Energie-Diesel, and they're now working together to get the break closer. At the second sprint (Sabido - Fuglsang - Iannetti) the gap is only 2'50. With 35km to go, it should come down to a sprint.

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/bes43.png

First, there is the second KOM sprint though, where it's Froome who sets a high pace, and drops half of the break. Only Sabido, Iannetti and Martin can follow him over the top.

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/bes44.png

Then the chase calms down a bit, with at some point only one rider 'relaying'. At 5km to go, Sabido is not the last rider to be caugth; Froome still has 20 seconds.
The sprint trains are going full steam ahead though with Galdos leading Bongiorno on the right, and Jelloul - Hoffman - Ventoso - Giaux - Trussov on the left, shotly joined by Bewley and Delage.

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/bes45.png

Galdos turns out to be much stronger then Jelloul and he takes a small lead with Bongiorno following. It's seems Bongiorno can't lose this anymore... but we've seen that before with Thorsen, and we all know what happend!

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/bes46.png

It's unbelievable; Bongiorno as well is stupid enough notto pass his leadout man. In the other train Hoffman had to go early because Jelloul faded, and Delage is going for it early as well.

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/bes47.png

With one kilometer to go Corioni looks strong when he passes Hoffman. Bongiorno now is definatly out. Maybe Delage can hang on and Ventoso could still steam up as well.

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/bes48.png

But Corioni is simply too strong today. Hoffman hangs on to second, while Giaux manages to jump past Ventoso on the line for third.

Again, it's Team Ultimate in the back, where all riders except Stoltz waited to help Ulanowski, who was almost dropped being tired from a day in the break. And again, they succeed.
