I'm new to the game. Two weeks and have PCM 09, so understand if this is an old question.
When I train a rider for Stage Races or the Classics what attributes am I improveing for my rider?
Thanks |

do you mean what you need to improve or do you mean what the traning types (not schedules, huge difference ! schedules control the form/fitness over the course of the season)
there´s a list for what they types of training do for development :

It is taken from the game database.
It is not written inside the game. |

You can't. It isn't an image taken from the game
Edit: too late

Hypothesis:
I have a talented youth, training on Stage Races.
Now, what would a trainer have for stats to maximize his mountain stat? Should he be a:
Stage Races: 10
Climber: 3
or should he be a:
Stage Races: 3
Climber: 10
One would think that the latter would be the most obvious choice, since it focuses on mountains. But based on above picture, it should be the one with the highest 'Stage Race' stat. Both the Mountain and Stage Race training maximize the Mountain stat.
I think that's a little silly. Or is there another effect that the 'Mountain' effect will only be 3/10 of the total, considering the 'Mountain' training stat from the trainer is only a 3?
In that case, the Stage Race-trainer also needs to be good in everything else - which doesn't make sense.
Anyone who can answer this? |

I can't understand what you mean...
From the table, the effect each trainer has is pretty clear to me.
Stage Races: Improves MO +3, REC +3 and TT +2
Climber: Improves MO +3, HILL +2, RES +2 and REC +2
If you want a pure climber you should go with a Climber's Trainer, since it maximizes HILL and REC stats (very important to win mountain stages), if you want a climber to win stage races you should go with the other, pretty obvious to me.
Maybe you think that climber's trainer should improve more the mountain stats than the stage racer's ones. I don't agree, I think this is the correct way
Oh, a trainer just needs to be good in one speciality. If the trainer has 10/10 in stage races he is the best in stage races training. He doesn't need to be 10/10 in TT or 10/10 in climber to improve the mountain stats and TT

So, basically, as long as you make a trainer do 'Stage Race training', it doesn't matter if he's incredibly bad in everything else? As long as he's a 10 in Stage Race, he's the best trainer ever if all your riders follow that particular training?
I'd have thought that his particular training skills (i.e. Mountain, TT, etc) would also have some impact on improving side-skills. For instance, having the +3 boost for Mountain if he's good in Mountain-training, but a mere +1 boost for TT if he's really bad in TT training.
After all, I can imagine that one trainer is better at making someone climb, whereas someone else is better in making someone last longer (resistance) on mountains. Both could be specialised in Stage Races though.
But perhaps I'm simply thinking too complicated |

Sherpa: The list shown above is about the selected training. I am more then sure that this list is not used for the trainers. What makes you believe it is? |

You are right Lachi, I dind't explain it in the best way. But the selected training efficiency depends on the trainers, but yes, you are right, the table relates to the selected training.
Yes Gentleman, that's it. Initially I had that same idea, but now, I think cyanide's way is more simple and easy.
By the way, look at this example:
Trainer 1: Sr 10/10 Cl 1/10 TT 1/10 Spr 1/10 Cob 1/10...
Trainer 2: Sr 10/10 Cl 10/10 TT 10/10...
If you put both of them training riders in StageRaces training, they will be equally good. The only and big advantage T2 has over T1 is that he can train much more type of riders, or type of trainings in maximum level.
