I did a test today seeing if I could complete a stage that is 235km (mountain stage in the giro) on my Vista machine and if my friend could do the same stage on a XP machine. Our specs are pretty similar
Me:
Vista Home Premium 32bit
BFG Geforce GTS 250 1 GB
2 GB ddr2
AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core 4000+

Him:
Windows XP service pack 2
BFG Geforce 9800 GT OC 1 GB
2 GB ddr2
AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core 3800+ (i think)

In my race I crashed about halfway through the stage, while he made it all the way to the end. My computer generally crashes on longer stages and more mountainous stages for some reason. Sometimes I'm lucky and can complete a longer stage but mostly, I'll end up getting a error about halfway through the stage. Is it something to do with Vista??? Has anyone found a solution to this problem yet, because I've seen people with the problem before?? I did have some crashing in PCM 2008 but not as bad as this game. I have it updated to patch 1.0.3.3 as well BTW.

There was a thread a few ago about something similar. Poster said to turn off a Vista service. Can't remember the name though.

Have a look around - thread shouldn't take too much tracking down. Wink
