Tired of repeating variations? Bored with the development of a rider cause after 2 seasons nearly all races endlessly repeat itself?
Well lets do something against that, shall we?
I'm currently updating DB Variations, from DBs i already used for such a thing and from many i downloaded. Right now im at 14 Var for the TDF, 11 for Giro, 10 for Vuelta (still 3 for each grand tour to come) and an average of 5 or more variations for all the other tours (f.e. suisse, dauphine, de panne, pologne, eneco, luxembourg, pais vasco, catalunya and many many more incl. 1 day classics like liege bastogne liege and lombardia). Nearly all tours from 1984,1989,1990,1994,1996,1998,2002,20032005,2006,2007,2008 will appear as a race variant plus the custom variations from the PCM 2008 db (didn't we all loved to climb up the mont sant glaciers?).
When im done it is possible to play a career up into the year 2025 before the first grand tours start repeating itself. And you should get to the year 2016 or further until the first smaller tours start repeating itself.
I started with this today morning at 11:00 and now its 21:00. I think i will need to work until the weekend on that then all variations should be included.
I will upload it, the variations will be compatible with any db using the current pcm expansion pack or its derivates.
I also added a new Fantasy team to the portugal expansion pack for pcm. This team is Kelme which mainly consists of young riders like indurain, pantani, delgado, hinault, coppi, bartali and myself and some friends. this team is superb if you plan to go until 2026 cause the riders will get to there prime all at a different time. and not all of the big names will live up to there past only 3 have potential to beat all there is: Pantani, Indurain and the third rider i forgot but it was a spaniard who won the vuelta 2x times in the 20's i think.
Keep cycling |

Digitizer, I am completely with you. I used to take tours here and there to make variations myself as well.
I'm working on some variations of the ENECO Tour. When I finish them (still a lot of work) you can maybe add them to your pack |

Thanks a lot for doing it, Digitizer.
I added some to the PCM.daily Pack for PCM08, and to me, it was a rather time-taking and boring job, so I'm glad someone else is interested in doing something to this part of the game

can´t thank you enough for making that type of effort , wow ! As a long-time career guy in any management game (never more than 1 trying-it-out game and one serious one for games like Football manager or NBA/College basketball sims, played CM3 a lot of years into the future as well) this is one of the most important aspects of the game and you expanding it greatly is just awesome
Will that work with careers that have allready started ?
Aren´t the 1 day classics basically on the same route every year though IRL ? |

Yes.
EDIT: No.. But when you edit your save game - tables dyn_variant_stage and dyn_variant_date, then yes..

Yes.

so, i don´t suppose there´s an editor that gives me a copy and paste option with whole tables, is there ?
That´s kind of a bummer, really but i´ll manage ...
Edit : The Hannes Converter has an Access converter, would that be of any use ?
Just tried it on a small scale, should work, shouldn´t it ?

You can easily copy whole tables. The Full Editor allows to mix tables from any DB. |

nice to see so much interest.
the variations (as well as the super small db) will be available for all communitys hence i stole all variations from all db out there or i used the original ones from older versions.
you must start a new carreer or edit some tables.
the variations will work with all databases out there but 100% compability can only be guarranted for db which use the pcmdaily expansion pack . It will work with any other db but you may need to edit some file names fe. in some db its Route de Limousin in others it's Tour de Limousin. But the grand tours shall work with any db.
I'm currently through with 2006. I have already added 103 race variants and i think with 1996,2005,2007,2008 i will be around 200 i think.
I just need some infos:
What are the zvsg files for? should i put them into the textures folder in cm_stages or can they be left out (huge data ammount).
Was there a PCM in 2004? And if so could someone upload the cm_stages folder as well as the originalrelease.cdb? |

One warning: Stages made for versions before PCM08 do not always work with PCM09.
ZSVG files are for faster loading, but are not needed. |

i will simulate once if finished up into the year 2027. if i can go there without crashing it should be good. but i already have used most varis in pcm 2008 im confident they will work.
btw does someone know about a decent xml editor. i just noticed that excel don't work for what i just thought about (i can open the xml beatifully with it and it shows me everything so that it would be super easy to c+p out of a game table but i can not save the xml with excel in the format it already was). i want to open the race table in access and then i need to copy some data into a good xml editing app so i can easily create variation rules and descr files. that would help a lot.

Simulating will work, but playing in 3D won't when using stages from PCM07, PCM06, etc. |

ah yes i noticed that on some stages back then when i really played it. but most stages worked and it was then 2 stages in a grand tour which crashed but i could simulate over them so it worked for me.
That will also be something i will point out when i upload the stages that you may not be able to ride all in 3D and that some must be simulated. but heck that's better imo than to ride all the same tours over and over again.
but i will try my best to test the stages. especially since the race variations from 2006 haven't changed until now so most of the stages should work i hope.
;-)
ps me numb numb just found out how to edit with excel i think im done tomorrow and then i will start my season with kelme and let you know. |

What about 1997? I have stages for the Tour, Vuelta, Giro, Dauphine, Paris-Nice and Tour de Suisse from 1997, so if you don't have them I can upload them. I would really be pleased if you included them, since they have some really nice profiles.
edit: I also have the 1999 Tour de France.
