Hey guys...pretty new to the series and it seems great so far. Just created my custom team, bunch of young guys. So it'll take a while to actually be in contention for everything.
My main question is....which events do I enter? Theres a ton! Right now I'm aiming for more flat TT stages since no one is good at mountains. Was just looking for some input. Thanks!
you can change it at short notice, so no need to plan everything in detail at the start. Perfectly possible to be added to or withdraw from a race a couple days before, from what i have experienced.
(Pro Tour Races work differently, you have to ask for a wild card a few days before the race. But if you aren´t a strong team you ought to skip them anyway unless you have a great sprinter and want to try in a few easier races like Tour Down Under or Eneco Tour)
There´s so many, can´t go into which races would fit you really. Guess you have to take a quick look by clicking on the tour in the calendar and go through the stages.
Most of the non pro tour races aren´t that tough, the easiest to win with a good TT guy come from May onwards (Bayern Rundfahrt, Sachsen Rundfahrt, Post Denmark Tour, Regio Tour)
If you have a good sprinter then early in the year : TDU, Langkawi, Quatar
Yeah I did Quatar earlier. Problem with the longer stages is all my guys are tapped out when things start to pick up near the end.
I'm using the PCM daily roster expansion right now. So when i started my career, I wasn't entered into any events automatically. Thats where the question came from.
Also, is it smart to keep who the AI thinks should run a race? Just entered Feb and my star hasn't been in a race yet.
Guess i'm not too familar with cycling to know how things usually work haha!
It´s not unusual for stars not to race until late february or even early march (Paric-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico) , as those often aim at the Tour de France and not the spring races. In real life it´s just that way, there the weather comes into play as well (catching a cold can be fatal as you loose practice time)
What is you star, what kind of rider is he ?
If you are not eligible for the Tour (i just assume because of your first post) you should race him earlier to get him into shape and put some points on the board.
The Langkawi Tour has a few shorter stages if i remember correctly.
But what riders are we talking about ? Only real youngsters that you chose at the start (not real life cyclists but the ones you could scout, the 2nd column when selcting the riders at the start) ? Those will have trouble in any race in the first year, wouldn´t expect them to be anything more than water carriers really.
Can´t give you much tips on a really weak team and ways to win with those guys. Don´t have a great team (started custom as well), but best 4 riders are Ciolek, Evans, Millar, Roche and then 9 riders in between 69 and 72 overall by midseason (Tour de Suisse) .
