I have read through the forum but cant find a thread that really enlights this subject.
I understand the basics, put each rider on the training program you want him to focus on, for example contador on "stage race" and hire a good trainer for that program without having to many riders on the same program so the effectievness isn't affected negativly. This alone isn't enough to maximize the potential for a rider?
This leads me to "the training-camp". My experience is that if you send a rider to training camp- mountain f.exa, he would gain 1-3 points, depening on how many stars he has the potenial to achive in that category. The "problem" for me is that 1 of 2 thing usually happens : 1. this particullary skill drops back to basis, often right before the tour de france. 2. my rider can have good fitness, 90 +, the mountain skill can be 83 + , but still it happens -> i can't follow a 77-80( mountain skill) in the mountains! it's annoying as hell!
1. anyone have a success formula for the training camp or to maximize the potential for the riders?
2. and can anyone tell me a little bit about the "fitness(training + race) pts" ? training camps give you less "training-pts"? i understand that u can maximum get 80 trainings pts, and the remaining 20 pts comes when a rider participates in races.

I don't know a lot of things about training camps as I don't use them, but that's it with them. After an while the stats drop back to the basics one.

I know you can edit the potential growth of your riders. e.g. you can make Contador's stats improve at sprints from 2 or 3 stars to 7 or more. you just have to edit your savegame with advanced editor. But if you want to play normal, it's dificult to grow your players. Tried once with Cancellara to improve his stats at TT ( in training camp) from 84 to 87, but it did only last about 2 weeks. So was for Andy Schleck, who grow in TT from 72 to 75 in the first 2 weeks of the Tour, but got back on the 3rd week. |

Training Camps are only for temporary stat boosts. Think of it as a visit to Doctor Fuentes - because that's what training camps really are => Cyanide's way of implenting team doping.
So, to maximise a rider's potential, you can't really do more than what you currently are. |

Wish I would have known Training Camps were like visiting the "good Doctor" before I started my Tour. Now I feel a little bit dirty.

Technically, it's more like doing a specialized training schedule. Remember those riders doing training somewhere high in the mountains? It's for improving the lung capacity by achieving a high level of red blood cells, which helps you to breathe better. I could go into detail if my name were Dr. Fuentes, but then again I could've offered you something else to do the same thing without the necessity to go on a camp
So it's not really doping, but it still wears off if you don't stick around in those conditions. |

We know the "technical" facts.
It is considered doping in this game because the AI is not using it. |

Geez. And then they say the 'I' in AI stands for 'Intelligence'. Better make it Artificial Incompetence
Reminds me of an older version where I was able to make use of consecutive training camps of 3 days, which brought me consecutive bonus points ... at one point I could ride the TdF with +6 mountain poins. It got a little silly at that point.
Still, I don't really feel the need to make use of the training camps, as my training schedule does the trick already and my riders are not that bad that they'd need more specialized training than what I offer ... |

If you send a rider to a taining camp the bonus won't depend on how many stars the rider has in the related category. I'am not sure how bonus points are calculated but the more days your rider spends in a training camp the more points he gets, bbut once again different riders under the same conditions get different amount of bonus points. Once I sent Cancellera to a TT training camp afor 10 days and when he came back his TT was 87 what exceeded the limit! Bonus points for a rider can be up to 9 in one training category so training camps are very usefull if you want to win any top tours. |

If you want to win every tour you could just play on easy. Of course you can play on eays AND use camps.
If you do not play on easy I would recommend not to use camps. In my opinion it is just stupid to make the game harder and then making it less hard afterwards.... |
