I started a new career with Garmin (the first big team I've taken on) and thought I would get some sposnors, especially after winning the Tour of Australia early on. Is this normal or should I have signed atleast one sponsor?

You should get different sponsors through January (should not matter if you get good result in Down Under or not). Just cancel offers you don`t like and wait for better ones. After cancelling, new one appears after 2-3 days.
