The 2nd of 3 40km criterium stages and before the halfway stage of the race there has been an interesting development
20 riders have simply ridden away from the rest of the group and hold a 40/50 second advantage. The race leader Sam Bewley is amongst those in the front group.
Steven Burke attempts an attack with 18km to go, but it only lasts 1 and a half km
8km to go and the front group is starting to split, led by AON's Kaisen and Serov
Keiss moves in front, leading Priamo, Mohs, Van Heerden, Thorsen and Bewley
But Keisse is perhaps not pushing as hard as he could have, Hassen ben Nasser powers across to close the gap, leading Ben Swift (wearing the points jersey for Bewley) and 4 others
This group of 14 holds 50 seconds on the next group - and I think they may all gain time as all sprinters seem to be here
Van Heerden makes his move in the sprint as Priamo waits behind Keisse.
Mohs was caught out by being behind Priamo, while Swift was at a disadvantage having only just rejoined the group, so 3 sprinters go clear as Van Heerden pushes hard. He has Thorsen and Bewley tucked in
Who would have thought it? For the first time in the management game Daniel Thorsen has survived the stage and is battling for victory, he mnakes his move on Van Heerden as he rounds the final bend
This is going to be very very tight. Photo finish!
The win goes to Juan van Heerden! Thorsen a tight 2nd.
Serrano leads in the chase group. Riders such as Lloret and Grabovski are in here and they have lost over a minute
Sam Bewley took 3rd on the stage and the time gained has given him a very comfortable lead in the GC, while Priamo, Van Heerden and Swift all move into the Top 10 overall.
