As my last story cant continue because of loss of save file, I will start over with Team Saxo Bank!
No further introduction, I am playing on Hard difficulty, with PPDB DB, with some of my own stat tweaks..
And also playing with the wonderful banners made by Jacky Durand.
Will keep updating the next days, with each stage..
Stage 1 - Time Trial Monaco[/b]
Todays goal is without a doubt tje stage win for Cancellara, aswell as limit the time loss for the Schleck brothers!
There was alot of pressure on our best TT rider Cancellara, as everyone was talking about him winning, and before the race he was actually quite nervous!
Cancellara starts his race
But already at the first split, he looks very strong as he is in the lead!
And on the downhilling section he does not disappoint either, he comes in beating Vandebroeck who was the leader until then with 48 seconds!
But we still have to wait for the rest of the favorites!
The Schleck brothers does a great job, only losing little time to the other favorites with Andy losing 37 seconds to Contador and Frank losing 42..
Our biggest positive surprise today, came from Our german workhorse Voigt who comes in 7th!
Contador is not able to beat Fabian, and finishes 3rd 18 seconds after, while Andreas Klöden came in second in a perfect ride.
Leipheimer finishes 4th and Armstrong 9th which means that Astana has 4 (!) riders in top 10! These guys are going to be hard to beat!

Stage 2 - Monaco - Brignoles
Today's goal after yesterdays victory was to get out and defend Fabian's yellow jersey, and not let a break get home.
Right after the flag was waved, 11 riders took off to what would be the break of the day, the riders were: Bouet, Spilak, Augé, Millar, Vansummeren, Posthuma, Wegmann, Lemoine, Coyot, Coppel and Kuchinski.
The breakaway
We didn't want the breakaway to get more than 5 minutes on the peloton, since they were so many and we began picking up the pace around 70 km's in.
Saxo Bank controlling the speed of the peloton
The breakaway gets reeled in 17 km's from goal, also with big help from Team Columbia, Cervelo and Quickstep, who was obviously interested in a bunch sprint.
A couple of sprinters were clearly lacking energy towards the end of the stage after the many hills on the last bit of the stage, and so Cancellara saw the opportunity to maybe get something out of this one!
And he showed that he is not a bad sprinter either, coming in at number 7.
Nut todays big winner was the big belgian, Tom Boonen wo rode a flawless sprint beating Mark Cavendish and Hushovd.
Todays tactic was executed perfectly, and we look forward to another day in yellow.
Cancellara was not far from a podium-spot!

Stage 3: Marseille - La Grande-Motte
After a succesfull stage for the team yesterday, we now start in Marseille for the 3rd stage.
The weather forecast for today said WINDY, so we knew we had to be sharp and stay at the front at all times, and be prepared for the side wind.
Cavendish is the big favorite today, with the last 100 kilometres being totally flat.
A breakaway forms after around 15 kilometres after alot of chaos and attacks everywhere, todays breakaway has: Arashiro, Wrolich, Rooijakkers, Willems, Pauriol, Geslin and Ivanov.
But also the breakaway is affected by the wind and they are not able to stay together and they are totally split apart, Ivanov and Geslin are the 2 in front.
Saxo Bank leading in a heavy sidewind
At around 70 kilometres, what we "feared" might happen, happened.
In a heavy sidewind (55 m/s) Cervelo splits the peloton in 2 with a high pace, we have Cancellara and the Schleck brothers in the front group, and are definitely interesting in this evolving.
But Contador, Evans, Farrar, Cavendish are caught behind, and therefore their teams work extremely hard to get back, and in under 10 kilometres, the peloton is once again gathered.
Cervelo pulls hard at the front, as favorites are trapped in the second group
All except Ivanov and Geslin are caught with abot 50 kilometres to go, and at 22 kilometres to the finish it's over for the 2 escapees.
After a long day in the breakaway, Ivanov and Geslin are caught 22 kilometres from the finish
So, another bunch sprint, today without the participation of Cancellara, as he has to save a bit of energy for tomorrow's TTT!
After a tough face-off between especially 2 riders, the winner is..
Mark Cavendish is the winner of stage 3
Not a big surprise, Mark Cavendish but not without a fight from the big norwegian Thor Hushovd, all the way to the line!
Cavendish JUST manages to edge out Hushovd on the line for the win!
Another day that went as planned for the team, and no changes in the GC.
Tomorrow is a very important day for us with the TTT, wish us luck!

Does anybody know how to switch off rider names in-game? You know, the bar that is over my riders?

Stage 4: Montpellier TTT
Today was the TTT, which we already started "preparing" for yesterday, by saving as much energy as possible.
We have a good team for a TTT but cant quite match teams like Garmin and Astana, but with a a bit of luck and a Cancellara in top-shape everything is possible.
Today's tactic is simple, Cancellara, Larsson and Voigt will have to take the longest relays possible!
We start 2nd last with our 2nd place in the team classifications, Astana starts last, which gives them an advantage, being able to get all the other teams' times.
As we set off, the team to beat at the finish is Caisse d'Epargne.
At the first split we are not even in top-5, but this is natural since neither Larsson or Cancellara has been at the front yet, right after the first split, Cancellara takes the front and things start to speed up.
Cancellara speeds things up
Astana and Garmin both looks very strong at the first split, coming in 1st and second, but nothings over yet!
At the second split, Cancellara and Larsson has got us to a 4th place, now things are looking better!
Meanwhile Rabobank surprisingly has set a new best time, and they beat Garmin! But it only lasts for so long until Team Columbia beats their time.
After the last split 3 of our guys are dropped, it's Arvesen, N. Sørensen and C.A. Sørensen.
We ride a very fast last 10 kilometres and we get to the finish in.. a new best time! beating Columbia with a whole 33 seconds!
Now we only await Astana's result as they are in on the last 2 kilometres.
Only Zubeldia are able to follow the 4 "big guns", as Astana are in on the last 2 kilometres
This is going to be close! Astana has been leading both splits so far and here they are in goal.. 8 seconds after Team Saxo Bank, YES! We did it, our tactic played out and executed perfectly by all the riders, and Cancellara are ready for more days in yellow!
Our 6 riders that got to the finish together were: Cancellara, Larsson, Voigt, A. Schleck, F. Schleck and O'Grady, which also means that the Schleck brothers gain a little time on the other favorites!

Stage 5 - Le Cap d'Agde - Perpignan
Today, a very flat stage and probably the last chance for the sprinters for now, as tomorrow has a steep finish, and friday we move to to pyrenees and Arcalis..
Today's strategy much the same as 3rd stage really..
Again today, a very windy stage with gusts at up to 50 m/s, so once again, we had to be on our guard.
10 riders got into todays breakaway after about 10 kilometres, the riders are: Ballan, Flecha, Ignatiev, Posthuma, Geslin, Vansummeren, Augé, Beppu, Spilak, Kuchinski.. a couple of riders seem to be VERY active this year..
But just as the 3rd stage, they are having a hard time holding together because of the win, and riders who are great on the flat, leave behind some of the not-so-good, the 3 riders in front are now: Ignatiev, Ballan and Flecha.
But soon also they get split apart, and now Flecha Teté de la course ;-D
Everybody except Flecha is caught at the 20 kilometre mark, and Flecha is struggling to hold on to a tiny lead, but has to give up at 12 km. before the finish to a chasing peloton.
FLecha held on untill 12 km. from the finish, but had no chance to a peloton that was up for a mass sprint finish
Just as Flecha is caught we get a message from Radio Tour that the wind has now picked up to 50 m/s, and it's a side wind! and at the 10 km gate, the peloton is split apart!
At the 10 km. port, the sprinter teams split the peloton with a high pace, some sprinters are left behind
Though this time shows not to be as dramatic as the 3rd stage as all the GC contenders are in the 2nd group, and only sprinters and helpers are at the front group.
Luckily Cancellara is placed well, and manages to stay at the front.
Though, not all sprinters made it to the front, guys like Boonen, Freire, Rojas, Van Hummel, Furlan and Bonnet were caught at a bad time!
At 5 kilometres to the finish, Frank Schleck who was then in the second group with all the favorites, crashes, and it's too late for him to get up to the group, so he unfortunately loses some valuable time.
The sprinters' battle is very close until the 1 kilometre mark as once again Cavendish and Hushovd seem to be the fastest of the bunch as they blast past Napolitano and Mondory.
Again it is a VERY close battle, not quite as close as the third stage, but the winner once again, is
Mark Cavendish
Cav once again beats Hushovd to the line
Tomorrow is another flat day apart from the steep climb at the end, we will probably create some action with Fabian at the end if his legs will allow it.

Stage 6 - Gérone - Barcelone
Another quite flat stage, but this time with a very interesting finish.
As we stated after the last stage, we have a joker in Cancellara, and hope he can go for the stage win.
Todays favorites are guys like Freire, Hushovd, Pozzato, Ballan.
At the beginning of the stage, alot of riders try their luck, but we close it right away every time, also with the help from Cervelo who's probably focused on todays 3 intermediate sprints, also they have Hushovd and Haussler for the finish.
No breakaways manages to hold, and so a very boring stage, the only drama the first 160 kilometres, that's when Pereiro sadly crashes and withdraws.
The pace is high during the last 10 kilometres, but Fabian's legs are good, and he manages to get all the way to the front, and as we planned he starts the sprint very very early.
Cancellara sets off sprinting at the very front of the peloton, trying to cheat the sprinters
It long looks as if it's too early as Ballan is on Cancellara's wheel right away, but amazingly Fabian manages to hold onto the lead and win!
But as we are all fired up over Cancellara we find out that the peloton actually split in the sprint, for a time gap, and Andy Schelck unfortunately lost 44 seconds, as he was not placed well enough for the sprinting!
Cancellara holds on, and wins!!
This year's tour has really been a success for Cancellara and the team so far, and we have a good feeling before the pyrenees tomorrow, still in yellow.

Stage 7 - Barcelone - Andorre Arcalis
Today, we hit the mountains for the first time, not the hardest stage of the tour, but hard enough to shake things up in the GC and for the favorites to attack.
The goal for our team is to save as much energy as possible for the last climb, and then see if the legs are their to attack Contador with the Schleck brothers, wishthinking would be that Cancellara is able to keep the yellow jersey, but it will be very hard and will take alot of mental strength!
At the beginning of the stage 16 riders took off, we considered sending Jens Voigt in the break, for him to be able to help at the last climb, but we chose not to.
The 16 riders are: Lloyd, Van de Walle, Ballan, Vaugrenard, Pauriol, Costa, Bouet, Trofimov, Wegmann, Millar, Kuchinski, Ignatiev, Verdugo, Vansummeren, Hupond and Roy.
Ballan relaying in the breakway
20 kilometres in, Rabobank's hope for the GC, Denis Menchov crashes in a solo-accident, and he is not able to get back into the peloton, as we boost the tempo a it, with his crash.
Menchov crashes
Things stand still untill the bottom of the Arcalis climb, where 120 riders are still together, and that's where things start to explode, almost at exactly the bottom, 4 riders take off.
Astarloza, Karpets, Bruseghin and Martin.
4 riders attack at the bottom of Arcalis
Bruseghin is not able to follow the other 3, and he drops back to the peloton.
almost right after, 2 new riders try their luck, Luis León Sanchez and Sylvain Chavanel.
From the bottom, Chris Anker Sørensen and Jens Voigt work hard, and pulling the peloton, doing a great job.
At 12 kilometres to the finish, the peloton speeds up dramatically as Kreuziger, Klöden, Leipheimer and Armstrong starts relaying.
All the riders from the early breakaway is caught at this point.
Astana pulls hard, and at 6 kilometres there are 29 riders left in the peloton, of whom, Cancellara and Voigt are still hanging on, but soon after, they drop and at the 5 kilometre gate, Contador starts the attack, the Schleck's reacts right away, along with other favorites.
Meanwhile Karpets, has left behind Astarloza and Martin and is now going solo for the win.
Only A. Schleck, F. Schleck, Nibali, Wiggins, Evans and Sastre are able to get to Contador.
But just as they are together, Contador attacks again, around 2.6 km out!
Contador attacks again just as the other favorites catch up to him!
This time only A. Schleck, Sastre and Wiggins has the energy to follow him, though Wiggins is struggling.
At the 1 kilometre port Karpets is only leading with about 10 seconds.
Karpets struggles to hold on to his lead on the last kilometre
The sprinting begins and Karpets looks like he is going to hold on, but no Contador just manages to outsprint him to the line, while Schleck comes in 3rd almost 2nd, but Karpets holds on,
Contador wins at Arcalis
Cancellara did not manage to hold on to the yellow and is now 2nd 27 seconds after, but definitely an accepted performance by Fabian.
Andy was not able to take time on Contador today, which is alright seeing that his legs wasn't even the best today.
Tomorrow the riders have another mountain stage but with the last 65 kilometres downhill, the tactic for tomorrow is not yet determined.
