One of the drawbacks of playing this game (at least PCM 06/07/08) is the waiting period before each stage. Especially since the stage starts right away after being loaded
I hate to waste time so, how do you spend the little minutes while a stage is loading?
I tried :
Doing other stuff on the PC: checking your e-mails, your downloads, the current standings in the current PT race on cyclingnews or velonews, checking bank accounts and paying bills...
, but the game doesn't like being minimized while loading. It protest by taking it's time before returning to desktop + you do't know when it's ready
So better to find something to do of the computer :
1 taking a shower : takes too long, you end up running half naked and soaking wet to pause the game , but too late as the early breakaway is already gone. + can only be done once in a day (or twice in summer)
2. Brushing your teeth : is about right for duration in time, and can be (should be) done several times a day, but once every 30 minutes ?
3. Make a boring but necessery phone call : has the advantage that the call can be continued while starting to play, as long as the other end doens't notice the sudden drop in attention.
4. Watching the real stuff on TV, if you're lucky enough
- To have a TV in the same room
- For a decent race to be going on and be broadcasted
5. Handling the ever rising pile of incoming (mail) post.
6. Putting on your pijama's, (but can also only be done once a day)
7. Make a trip to the fridge (not very healthy)
8. My absolute favorite : going to the restroom : but can't be done at the same rate as loading stages, or else you have a heallth problem... |

Funniest post in a while
I have a better, yet not very entertaining suggestion: Use the loading time to go to the local computer shop and buy a few more RAM. That way, we could avoid waiting around forever
Seriously speaking, I know what you mean. It could easily take 5-10 mins for a stage to load with my old computer. I got a new one just in time for this year's beta testing of the game, and since then, loading only takes ~1 minute. Makes the game a whole lot more enjoyable, I'd say. |

I have to say I have done or considered some of the things on your list myself! However, I feel that there are 2 glaring omissions for me:
1. Feed the cat or family pet (not healthy for it if you do it every stage)
2. Read a magazine or newspaper article. This backfires when you find the article more interesting than the third flat stage in a row the during the Eneco Tour that you just loaded.

I run two monitors in dual view mode and pcm09 doesnt actually minimize anymore when i select something on the second monitor. That way i can see when the stage is about to start. So i usually edit my mp3 playlist or browse forums over and over while loading

I just surf the web.
Like I'm doing right now at work because there's nothing to do.
Why do you think I'm online so often? |

Do some push ups, makes your body more attractive (if you don't over do it), healthy, and can be done at every stage
(not that I do it, but it s a suggestion)

Pure training
though ive played pcm when I came drunk home one night (i didn't wanna go to bed drunk so i wouldn't have a hangover that same day)
It is not advisable when competing for a GC in a race
prevent hangovers --> stay drunk

I'll try and finish the article at some stage.
For now and off the top of my head, the quickest way to do it in Photoshop is hold down the shift key (or alt or cntrl - I can't remember which one exactly) and click on the layer with your logo. Then go up to select and choose save selection. This is your 'alpha' channel. Save your file as a .tga then.
If you put "how do i create an alpha channel" into Google, you'll get a fuller explanation.

Check your motherboard manual. |

Wrong thread, perhaps? |
