Final climb might be decisive
Another cross-country, transitional stage for the sprinters or likely breakaways. Riders get underway on their 200km-journey to thermal station Vittel in Tonnerre, which means 'thunder' in English. Will it inspire Norwegian fast man Thor ('the thunder god' Hushovd to take the honours in Vittel, where the mineral water and major sponsor of the Tour comes from?

nah, cav's said he's got his eyes on posibly 3 more stages so columbia will be trying to control the peleton all day to take it to a sprint. depends on if any other teams want to take it to a sprint too.
the break will be massive as everyteam will want to get someone in it cause they know they won't win a sprint. |

Didn't I hear Cavendish saying that he only had one more stage in mind after today's one? He said "Paris". |

At the start of the week he said "I could potentially win 4 this week."

Wonder if Hushovd will try to go in the break.....It would be so fun if both he and Cav got into a breakaway |

Cavendish says he will be happy if he only now wins Paris to make 5. That doesnt mean he isnt aiming to win all the other possibilities aswell! |

Based on current form, it wouldnt surprise me to see either in the Top 20 at the end of the race. But since they are untested in competing at the top end of the GC for 3 weeks, it is hard to tell whether they can do any better. |

Stage 18 will tell us all we need to know about Martin and Wiggins
They're either going to crack violently or hang more than just a bit like they have so far (especially Wiggins). |

Rui Costa crashed but finished the stage. He was immediately rushed to the hospital with a ruptured knee ligament and his season is in danger.
I told you sending him to the Tour would be bad for his career.
Let's hope this doesn't permanently ruin his potential, which is a serious possibility. |

Shoulder
I'm reporting eurosport's interview with EtchavarrÃ.
If it's the shoulder, that's much better, but how would his very team make such a stupid mistake? |

So far, I haven't read anything about the injury being on his knee. Every link I've read said it was a problem with his left shoulder's ligament. No fracture though.
In Record, Jaimerena said that it was shoulder issue (ligament partially affected) and that he would do more tests when he arrives home.

Echavarrà was being translated and you could only hear the translator on the audio feed. So it was probably the translator being an idiot.
God knows translators tend to universally suck.
Good to know it's not the knee |
