Hi, it's Jeremy 'Jezza' Hunt here and I'm on the dole. I signed for Cervelo at the end of last season but it turned out that the team could not afford one rider ..... and that rider turned out to be me. So I'm job-hunting, searching for a team. I'll give you some updates and see if I can get me a team for 2009.

Time for some background info I think:
I was born 12 March 1974 in Macklin, Canada, on the edge of the Saskatchewan border. Despite my place of birth I am in fact British and have always raced for that country. I turned pro in 1996 for Miguel Indurain's Banesto team and was overawed to be riding with such a legend. I had a satisfactory first season, including 2nd and 3rd places in the Mallorca Challenge, which was enough for them to keep me on for the following year. They were rewarded for their faith in a season in which I crossed the whitewash in front 10 times including a one-day race, the Circuit de Gexto, and the British National Championships. At the nationals I crashed on a tough Welsh course but got up to beat Mark Walsham and Matt Stephens. My best result in 1997 though was the Vuelta a Aragon stage win, where I outsprinted Zabel and Cipollini. I was kept on for a 3rd season and took 3 wins, one in the Mallorca Challenge and two in the Volta a Portugal. I remained with Banesto for 1999 in what turned out to be my final season with them. This was due to a year without any victories but I parted with Banesto happy.
The new millenium brought a step-down in terms of team but a step up from '99 in terms of results. 4 victories for the Big Mat - Auber team included the Australian Open Road Race Championships and a stage in the TOUR MEDITERRANEEN, once again just edging out Cipo. I rode for Big Mat in 2001, regaining the red, white and blue bands of national champion, once more in Wales. In addition, I took stages in the Circuit Franco-Belge and the Tour de la Somme. It meant one final season with Big Mat and probably my best to date. I may have only won once during 2002 but it was France's second-biggest classic: the GP Ouest France-Plouay. It transpiered, however, that my biggest ever win earned me my smallest ever contract, with the MBK Oktos team.
A small team meant some meagre results, just 1 win in the Tour of Picardie. I did earn a bigger contract for 2004 with Mr Bookmaker but my results continued to spiral downwards, 3rd in the British Champs and 4th in Paris-Brussels my best results all year. The team kept me on for 2005 and I improved my results, a stage win the Tour of Wallonie my best and some top 10's in cobbled semi-classics. Mr Bookmaker became Unibet for 2006 and I showed that I could really ride the cobbles, podium-ing in two semi-classics and taking more top 10's.
Unibet turned ProTour for 2007 and I looked forward to my first year at the top tier of racing. I began in style by taking my biggest win since 2002 in the GP de Marseille, the first race on the European Calendar. However, from then the year collapsed: we were banned from ProTour races because our sponsor was a gambling company despite the fact that we held a license and other companies that fell under the same rules were allowed. We were a sacrificial pawn in the war between the UCI and ASO. A year that had promised so much dwindled horribly, although I did manage a top 20 in Milan - San Remo. I managed to escape for 2008 to Credit Agricole where I began my season well once again, scoring a stage win in the Tour de Langkawi. Credit Agricole folded at the end of 2008 as the credit crunch bit.
I found the Cervelo team for 2009 but I then turned out to be surplus to requirements. Ultimately, I just want a team for this year but I would like to race ProTour. I am currently holding talks with Barloworld and I have had offers from CandiTV and Rapha-Condor back in the UK. 10 days until the transfer season ends. I'm starting to get a little bit worried.

I'm sorry to announce that the deal with Barloworld fell through. I was about to sign with CandiTV when I got a call from AG2R. I've got a 3-month contract now and, if I perform well, I will get an extension to it. Things are looking up already. Maybe I can add to my 25 pro wins.

Team Presentation
Team Goals
The team's biggest race this year is of course the Tour de France. Stage wins will make or break our season and a high GC placing would be very nice. Other race goals are the Giro, the classics and my biggest win the GP Ouest France - Plouay. I hope I can help in achieving these goals.

This is what the team looks like for the year 2009:
Our leaders:
Vladimir Efimkin - Aiming for a Tour de France top 10 this guy has loads of talent and just needs to cool down - surprising from a Russian. A classy climber and a capable time-triallist he could definitely fulfil his goal.
Tadej Valjavec - A guy I really respect; uber-consistent he always seems to make the top 10 without getting the result he truly deserves. Riding for the overall at the Giro so I hope he can make the top 5.
Rinaldo Nocentini - An Italian puncheur who has in the past dominated their August classics. Last year he pulled out a phenomenal 2nd in Paris-Nice and this year he is riding the spring classics to win. Already achieved a top 10 in Fleche Wallone, he could definitely do a top 5 in any of the Ardennes this year. And don't rule him out for a surprise win.
Aurelien Clerc - The Swiss sprinter has claimed lots of wins in smaller races. Needs to step up and take a big victory as he reaches his peak this year.
Is there anyone French I hear you say? Yes but mostly domestiques or talents. The best is tattoed climber John Gadret and former yellow jersey wearer, Cyril Dessel.
And now me - 
My aims for the season are to get my best results in the cobbled classics: preferably a top 10 in one of the big three plus a one day win. I would also like to ride a Grand Tour, hopefully my first Tour de France. My season plan up till April looks like this:

GP de Marseille
A race where I have previously taken victory I hope to achieve a good result today. However, I don't have my best early season form so I will have to take it as it comes.
The race is hilly but gradual so it's good ground for the breakaway or an opportunist. In spite of that, sprinters such as myself have prospered regularly on this course and I hope to do so again.
With most of our sprinters in Qatar, I am lead sprinter. The rest of the team, mostly young Frenchmen, will follow attacks.
The racing was more intense than I remember it being last season (old man that I am  ). A 14-man group made an early bid for freedom but Bouyges and Cofidis wouldn't let such a large group go. When the break of the day did go we had a man in it. Blaise Sonnery joined Tom Danielson, Mauricio Soler, Sandy Casar and an Auber 93 rider unknown to me. It was a group of stellar climbers and Blaise was pulling his weight.
The pack were bearing down on the group and with 20km to go Blaise made a brave solo move.
However, he was caught and passed with 7km to go by Danielson and Casar and dropped back to Soler. He still worked like a madman but could not catch the victorious Danielson or Casar and was eventually beaten by Soler to finish off the podium.
Back in the pack my sprint was far from successful on the twisty run-in and I sat up to come in 30th.
At 34 maybe I am too old for this lark. Let's hope it's just bad early season form and that I will improve at the Etoile de Besseges.

Etoile de Besseges Stage 1
The 5 day stage race opens the French season on the Mediterranean with what is generally a sprint-fest. One hilly stage could mean attacks from some puncheurs but expect a breakaway or a sprinter to take GC on this occasion.
Our squad consists of me and Lloyd Mondory as alternate sprinters with John Gadret as leader for the GC. The rest are domestiques, the most valuable men in cycling.
The course was a crit without a gradient in sight, which would suit the weaker sprinters, but not our team.
A big break of 10 managed to forge a gap of 4 minutes but the strong Quickstep team were having none of it.
They were back in the fold with 10km left and I began to position myself for the sprint. I was muscled out and ended up to the back of the far-right hand side train (as you can see in the picture below).
I had to fight my way through the scrum and, judging by the bellowing in my earpiece, Lloyd was having to do the same. Jimmy Casper emerged victorious, while I had to settle for 7th.
After Quickstep pulled at the front all day, they must be dissapointed in Tom Boonen's 2nd place:

A bit harder terrain but still nothing especially difficult. Expect it to take it out of yesterday's winner Jimmy Casper though. That guy couldn't ride up a motorway flyover without getting of and walking.
Once again a big break went, 14 men driving it clear this time.
Quickstep seemed tired from yesterday's exertions and Jimmy Casper's team just were'nt strong enough. We contributed a bit but didn't want to take on any responsibility. In the break up front they only had 20km of road left to cover so the attacks began to go. It was Cherel of FDJeux who made the first successful move, as no one behind would go all out to chase.
Lloyd said that he would lead me out today and so he did, brilliantly, taking me up to the remnants of the break, leaving only Cherel up front.
But Cherel was not gonna be caught as he claimed his biggest victory so far in his short career and took the yellow leaders jersey.
In what turned out to be a longer sprint than I thought I took second place. A good result for now. All my thanks go to Lloyd for a tremendous lead-out.
I move up to 4th on GC. Casper is the only man within a minute of Cherel.
Tomorrow is the decisive hilly stage and a chance for Gadret as leader.

The decisive hilly stage. However I think it will not be tough to shake FDJeux of Cherel's jersey.
The sad news was that this stage crashed continually but all in different places (Probably my shit computer). The simulation produced some surprising results:
Cherel keeps his jersey. Let's hope for a stage win in the next two days.

Back on the flat and the sprinters should win again.
Fingers crossed.
The break was easily controlled today and I decided to be fair to Lloyd (even though there's no such thing as fair in cycling) and lead him out.
Although I say it myself I was awesome. My earpiece told me to keep going to the line once Lloyd had come around me and I was surprised to see nobody else follow him. I was flying! Lloyd took an ecstatic win. Job well done for the team.
After I crossed the line I was a bit miffed to be told I had been beaten by Casper. Certainly from the angle above it seems to me that I got 2nd. Nevertheless, it was probably that Dutch twat off the Tour so it stood in all it's ridiculousness.
A stage win means this race was a success for the team so the pressure is off now. It finishes tomorrow.
