Stage 6: Gérone - Barcelone, 181,5km, hilly finish

Sprint to most southerly Tour finish

After Monaco and Marseille, the 2009 Tour visits a third 'great beacon' of the Mediterranean, Barcelona. The Spanish capital of Catalonia, the southernmost destination in Tour history, has hosted the Tour de France twice in the past. This year, the peloton will come from Girona, a small Spanish town which became famous in the cycling community when Lance Armstrong made it his Spanish home. The ride over the rugged coastal hills of the Costa Brava will surely see a breakaway go clear.

In the city of famous architect Antoni Gaudi, crowds will be huge and Spanish riders may be particularly eager to break away from the peloton on the uphill finish at the Montjuic mountain, which hosts the Escalada a Montjuic each year in October. Look for a strong puncher to finish the stage in style.

Pozzato or Freire maybe? But then they have to appear for once...
If children have the ability to ignore all odds and percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them. When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or Fight Like Hell.

Uphill finish?

Either Kirchen or a random surprise. Maybe Hushovd. maybe.

Kami
Maybe Cancellara? But if it comes to a mass sprint i bet on Hushovd, Freire, or Haussler.

I think Pozzato will take this stage if it ends with a sprint, but the chances to get another breakaway win are quiet good imo.

He said himself that he wasn't going for a stage win tommorow since the hill is too hard, combined with the last hill that is too long for him and is only thinking of getting to stage 10 using as little energy as possible...

i think there will be attacks in last hill by Wegmann and Kirchen, but favourites in mass sprint is Pozzato, Freire and Ballan.

Surely, the ability to rock has never been a key factor in winning Tour stages, has it? I would say something along "they are absolutely fabulous bicycle riders!" would be a better reason behind your point, no?

Pfft

Now i'm uncertain of japanese cyclists' musical ability...

I think Heinrich Haussler has the ability to win the stage.

My guess is puncheurs like Kirchen will attack on the slope... otherwise any sprinter will have a chance to win it from Cav to Freire
