Tour de San Luis - Stage 6
CrueTrue
6th and last stage of Tour de San Luis is dead-flat 143 km long. It should be a stage for the sprinters, but Armstrong-Petrie proved that with the right mentality, anything can happen.

The riders who managed to get away in today's break were Ramos Gamez, Mottin and Li. And with the first-mentioned being more than 7 minutes behind in the GC, none of them are really a threat in the overall GC - although that he was in virtual yellow with 80 km to go.

The break did quite well keeping the peloton away, though. With 20 km to go, they still had 4'13 down to the P - although decreasing very fast. And maybe due to that, Mottin decided to do what Armstrong-Petrie did: attack! And with just 10 km to go, and still a gap of 3'18, it seemed likely that the breakaway would stand a chance. But unlike Armstrong-Petrie, Mottin couldn't do it on his own.

Instead, Li made a move, but was reeled in by Ramos Gamez - and in end, Mottin let a short gap to the others, leaving himself with no chance of a win.

Mottin realised this and gave up sprinting pretty much immediately. Instead, it was Gamez vs Li, and with 0.7 km to go, it seemed like an victory for Olympus.

... and he did manage to finish the work!

And despite having given up, Mottin took third ahead of Haedo, Gatto, Turano, Grillo and Borrajo.
