Breakaways
fvanlaere
Just like in PCM2008 breakaways never make it. In all my 3D races, I haven't seen one make it, not a single one. And I'm in August already with my game.
I'm using the PCMdaily final version, I read that some databases favour breakaways more than others, doesn't PCMdaily's favour the breakaways? Because really, not a single breakaway over 50+ races is a bit strange.

Then on a side note, is it normal that LPR brakes was riding the tour instead of Team Columbia? I thought Columbia was a pro tour team as well?

Thanks for any answer,

Edit: Sorry, think I posted this in the wrong forum, could a mod move it please?

It's kinda funny. Just before reading this thread, I had read this:

"Breaks are finally +/- Ok. Smile I had 4 succesfull breaks in 08 version. Suddenly I have 4 succesfull breaks in 09 version only in Tour of California.. PCM 09 is simply better game than 08 Smile"

About the side note, it's not about being Pro Tour or not. Fuji - Servetto is not invited to this year's Tour de France despite being a Pro Tour teams. The organizers decide who gets to go, and in your case, it decided to leave out Columbia.

And what database was that guy using?

I'm serious, this is important.

The original poster uses the PCM.daily Expansion Pack.

Roman, the guy I quoted, attached a screenshot to this post: https://i697.photobucket.com/albums/vv...1246146376

Based on names and race category logo, it appears that he's also using the Expansion Pack. I can't tell for sure, though.

So, either

A. Roman is simulating stages
B. Roman is considering favorites' attacks as "breakaways"
C. Something insane is going on

From the screenshot, it clearly looks like A

First stage of my newly created career earlier was the Ozzie Champs.

Breakaway with me in it won it - 8 minutes clear. I was 4th though. Angry

National champs don't count, they're a completely different set of circumstances. Even pcm07 when no breaks ever made it, the nationals were always like that.

A. I never simulate stages
B. Voigt was 10 minutes back in general classification so that none favourite for general.
C. I attacked with Voigt about 140k to go. The peloton were in one minute 11 min back of Voigt. The peloton started chasing 50k to go.. Well I have replay.

I use PCM.daily Expansion Pack a little modified by me. However no greater changes.

I am using the PCM daily final expansion and the conditions I was talking about was from the 3D race, there hasn't been a single successful breakaway there. There is clearly a difference when simulating stages, and when riding them in 3D, when simulating it often happens that you can see from the results that it was a breakaway. But in 3D? No never, not a single stage win was because of a successful breakaway.

I read on Cyanide's forum that it could have to do with the database that you have installed, that's why I asked this here. I can't compare because installing the pcm daily expansion was the first thing I did after installing the game.

Yes, and Roman, who I quoted, experienced 4 succesful breakaways - in 3D. I don't know where you're getting the "simulated" part from.

That said, yes, databases do definitely have something to do with breakaways. I doubt that any of the currently released DBs for PCM09 are any better compared to each other, but for PCM08, the Divinity DB had a rather successful experiment where all riders had more than 70 i FL/PL (flat terrain). This did allow more breakaways to make it.

I think it all depends on what race you are and also it must be something to do with the game itself as last year i saw no breakaways win what so ever and others people say they saw loads so i think it is to do with luck tbh

raar1991
In every single GT I have seen at least couple of successful brakeaways, some of them with my riders too. But all of them was with riders who are far away in GC

Agree, if the stage is hilly and there are a few ppl with some reasonable hill stats a part of the break might make it. Mostly only 1 or 2 riders from the break make it because they have the better stats for the stage type.

In my career, in Paris-Nice there were 2 succeeded breaks (not simulated), none of them by minutes, just a bit ahead of peloton or favorites. What impressed me more was Seeldrayers win in montagne de Lur from a break. Of course i use pcmdaily's db.

Is that with pcm2009 as i have not got it yet. And this guy is the first i have heard who says nobody makes it in breakaways (no offense) so im looking forward to it as no breakaways ever made it for me on pcm08 :9 therefore i have high expectations of the new one Grin

I have noticed a lot more breaks win in all types of races.

Yeas 2009, just got another break succeeding in pais vasco. Also a lot of times the break is caught in the last 10 or 5 km which is realistic.
