Just came back from holidays, and seeing that the current PCM08 DB's aren't bug free or anything, i de-installed it and tried to re-install it. Well, I don't get any further than choosing the language as I immediately get an error telling he can't open setup.bmp is some own-generated subfolder. I remember having that problem before and I remembered making a post about it on the cyanide forum... only to see now that the forum has been completely deleted with all its knowledge and know-how!! And now I'm still stuck with this shitty problem and can't install the game

It hasn't, go to the new forum, and on the top is a link to the old forum, or mention your problem in greater detail and we can help you here.
well, not much more detail to add: clicking setup-pcm2008 (I have the downloaded version) gives me the pop-up box where you can choose the install language. Clicking OK gives me a black background with the error box telling the program couldn't open setup.bmp (probably the background PCM uses while installing) and when clicking ok it just closes down. Since the setup.bmp is supposedly in a subfolder generated by the setup program itself at the time the error box is shown, there is no way you can circumvent it...
Ok, just found the old forum (thx for the link there, didn't see it) but the solution I found that time doesn't work now (which was deleting PCM keys left in the registry but there aren't any left)
But, you're saying that you have the downloaded version. To me, it sounds like a faulty download when there's a file missing, so my idea is to simply redownload it and try again.
euh, it's actually the same downloaded files I used to install the game in the first place. When I'm done with some work, i'll restart the computer and see if that helps (maybe the game can't install itself after being de-installed without restarting)...
I tried this with the pcm07, and had the same problem. Unfortunately I never got it working again, however - I didn't try that hard to fix it as I just thought sod it i'll buy the '08 version, since that will make it's own folder.
Worked a treat.
