Best way to train riders/ Prepare for tour
AikEN
Avid gamer, Recreational rider, Fanatic about bicycle racing!!! So admitedly I am not as knowledgable in the way cyclist train in the pro ranks. I wold like to know what is the preferred way to prepare yoru riders. help them gain points in their skill level and have them ready for the big tours. I found that halfway through first try at season that i got to the tour and my favorite riders were all not in desired shape. Yeah i took a few guys and put them in tours that they werent predetermined to be in, but i didnt want to take a third rate team into giro d'italia. What is the fitness level they should be at start of tour? And how should i be training my guys to make it so they become better over a season? (or do skills rise and fall depending on success in the season)

I doubt that the skills rise and fall depending on the success - they'll just rise or fall depending on age, level of trainer and maybe a few more factors. Check the training tab when looking in the rider profile.

About the rider form, well, you don't want them to be too worn out or in top form at the very start of the Tour. Personally, I try to go for a form between 85 and 90. That way, they can improve during the Tour.
However, this year's Tour is a little bit different with the Mont Ventoux on the 2nd last stage, so in order to be in top shape at that stage, you might have to go for a 'worse' shape at the beginning of the Tour - it's all about tactics Wink

so do you even need to send riders out on training to different countries, for mts, hills or TT? Or is the simulation doing that automatically for you?

Inferio
Form of the riders you set in his personal settings. To training camps you send your riders for temporarily better stats, it's also good before races. For example before Tour some MO and TT training camps...

Training camps are considered cheating, because AI is not using it. And it seems that they are bugged this year, so I recommend not to use them.

Use one of the pre made training programs to achieve the fitness you want them to have. I guess you can figure the logic behind the programs if you look at them or read the manual. At a later stage you can try to follow CrueTrues fitness suggestions.
