With the new patch, the painting on the roads returned. After some investigation, I have now found out how I can modify the painting.
The first step is to open the Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager - Season 2009\CM_Textures\tags. In this folder, there are five text files. Tags_benlux applies in the Benelux countries, and so on. The only exception is the default, which applies both in the Tour and races without the other country's borders. I have worked with.
In that file, you will read this:
<cycling>
<prefix name=" go"/>
<prefix name=" allez"/>
<prefix name=" vas-y"/>
<independant name="vas-y poupou"/>
<independant name="vive le tour!!!"/>
<independant name="tac tac"/>
<independant name="go go go !"/>
<independant name="* * *"/>
<independant name="* _ *"/>
</cycling>
Cycling is only the "marker" in the XML. Prefix name should stay untouched, sign for any rider who will be celebrated with allez, vas-y, or go, for example, Sastre vas-y.
Independent name means that it has no connection with a particular name. It means that what's between the quotation marks ends up at the tarmac. The stars are for david stars and devil forks.
My result:

Attached to this post are the tags from one of PPDB's packages. They can also be used with PCM09.

I assumed that someone already had found out how you modify the the painting. The files have actually been in PCM2008, but they ha no impact at the game. Our 1998 DB will also contain new tags, so it is in those project this will be usefull.
