Another flat stage, another early intermediate sprint. Haidar Anuawar can thank Di Nucci for delivering him perfectly for the 6 pts, while the teamwork is less fluent for Sony Ericsson as Cucinotta accidentally beats Borrajo to 3rd place having lead him out.
Theres a break away by the next sprint, Pagoto, Lundberg and Gallego Martin
Pagoto is clearly stronger and has no wish to slow down for the other 2, taking a solo lead
Slowly his gap comes down, with Cucinotta spending quite a bit of time chasing, despite being Sony Ericsson's leadout man
17km to go and Pagoto is caught
As we enter the final 10km, the sprint trains start to emerge and as expected, Cucinotta is still chosen to lead out for Sony Ericsson
As the Vespa, EON, IKEA and M&M train pulls away, Cucinotta was left standing and if any sprinter wants any chance in this stage, they need to bridge across to those 4 sprint trains immediately
Vespa's Ascani and Gavazzi move into the lead
But IKEA and EON come back strong - Di Nucci and the 2 Malaysians are left behind now
Timofeev moves infront as the sprint is about to begin
Westling moves early, he needs to in order to catch out De Fauw
And they sprint it out, head to head, its going to be tight
Haidar Anuawar waits until the final kilometre before leaving Di Nucci. A poor decision, he needed to go early to make an impact
It could be worse - Gavazzi still hasnt gone past Ascani, and doesnt even look like doing so
Closing in on the line, De Fauw edging in front
And the Belgian takes victory!
Haidar Anuawar powers through to take 3rd and keep his points jersey hopes alive
