Mountains!
Galparsoro, Ulrich, Aguilar, Kinney, Lai, China and Dyadichkin are the break
Galparsoro, Lai and Dyadichkin all scored KoM points on stage 4 and all go for some more again today. Lai taking the first climb
Energie Diesel and SL Benfica are signalling intent early on at the front - Pardilla and Torres are noticebaly making it tough for the non-climbers
Perez Arrieta and Van Stayen are the first of those riders yet to have lost any time yet to struggle, confirming what we already knew - that thered be a new race leader
The top of the 2nd climb sees a very steep section before flattening at the top. The same 3 riders attack from the break and Lai takes it again.
This time they dont drop back though
China, Powers and Kinney are left behind (other members of the breakaway had already been dropped) but China is not willing to give up so easily, and drops the Ernst & Young riders
Perez Arrieta had caught up after the 2nd climb, but now he is dropped for good
After a huge effort, China catches up to the leading trio
Only for them to attack for more KoM points and drop him again. Dyadichkin tops it but Lai has done enough to take over the jersey from Galparsoro
The long descent down to the intermediate sprint is taken. China is caught by the pack, who are 2 minutes behind with 17 uphill km to go. Lai edges the sprint
Immediately onto the climb, Dyadichkin applies some pressure
He first drops tomorrow King of the Mountains and then drops today's King of the Mountains, taking a solo lead
Time for the real action to begin! Gonzalo attacks
Tschopp and Weening look to counter but can only watch as Florentino Marquez powers past
Medina, Vasquez and Madrazo now go - then followed after a bit by Stubbe and Petrov. With 7km to the top, Marquez has caught Dyadichkin. Vasquez, Madrazo and Medina are leading the chase at the moment.
At last Mercado now makes his move aswell
4km to go, Marquez is still leading. Vasquez chasing, ahead of Petrov.
A group of 7 soon forms behind Marquez - Petrov, Mercado, Vasquez, Medina, Madrazo, Weening and Ndbiri
Gonzalo and Tschopp join them but Marquez is extending his lead
Vasquez then attacks the chase group - and Petrov has somehow been dropped
The Russian is now fighting to get back after that lapse of concentration
Mercado and Ndbiri lead the chase up to Vasquez and Marquez as the climb steepens to over 10%,
The day belongs to Florentino Marquez though, taking an early grip on the race GC.
Vasquez takes 2nd having been caught by Mercado and Ndbiri. Those 3 have a gap over the rest of the group, with a recovered Petrov in 5th. Madrazo lost contact with the group in the sprint while Valjavec and Nazaret leapt up to it in the sprint.
