A group of 9 organised themselves ahead of the pack on the early flat section, but it would not be 9 for long.
Xavier Zandio made it clear that he wanted KoM points, and with the aid of Egoi Martinez, destroyed the group of 9. These 2 riders went on, with Zandio taking the maximum points.
Zandio was beginning to weaken though, Martinez took the sprint points and later in the descent, moved away from Zandio on the road. Back in the back, Dekker ignitiated an attack that only 3 others could follow.
Oscar Pereiro, Koldo Gil and Alexandre Vinokourov joined Thomas Dekker. The lampre rider is David Loosli, part of the original 9 rider breakaway. The Dekker group are 3'30 behind Martinez, surely they cant catch up?
They cannot, and Martinez wins! (Note: The image makes the gaps between the groups seem smaller than they actually are.) David Arroyo seemed to be the only major name injured from the Stage 6 crash ~ He lost 21 minutes today.
