It opens with a short, hilly, prologue, where the TT specialists are favoured. Following 3 flat stages, ideal for sprinters, there are 4 hilly stages, where the race will be won and lost.
There is an elite field present, and it is hard to judge who could win the colourful french race.
Team's View
Addy291, Caisse d'Epargne Boss:
"In the mountains we shall see whether Oscar [Pereiro] or David [Arroyo] is the stronger rider and shall then decide who will be the leader, but from the start our team shall work for Pereiro and our two sprinters."
Koldo Gil, Saunier Duval Leader:
"My goal is for at least a top 10 finish, maybe even better? A stage win would also be a great start to the year. I do think that the course will suit me."
SidGarcia, Discovery Boss:
"Samuel Sanchez G. will be the leader in this Paris - Nice. He will get good support from Perez Sanchez and Paulinho.
We will not try to win the prologue, but to get acceptable results."
JustinWK, Ag2r Boss:
"Pozzato is our leader here and we think he can atleast win a stage and perhaps Nazon can do something in the sprints with Dumoulin as his lead out man. Calzati is also someone from who we expect something"
Dave Zabriskie, Quick Step Rider:
"I'm feeling confident. Hopefully i can win the yellow jersey tomorrow in Paris and keep it at least until Stage 1'" I'd like to point out that if Zabriskie does take Yellow, he will obviously keep it until Stage 1
