Well, I guess it deserves its own thread - but with that said, it's already been discussed a lot in the months' news threads. |

Astana are a disgrace after everything that happened last year there in the news for the wrong reasons again. Its best if they find new sponsors Kazakhstan has a bad reputation in cycling. Oh and Vinokourov wants a tour invite for next years tour. |

I seem to remember them having a pretty good year last year and are having a fine season this year, the only real black eye being the Kloden issue and the French testers going after Armstrong.
Edit: As a fan of Levi, Popo, Jani and crew from the Discovery days, I know I may be biased. I was sad to see the crew come to a team that had such a bad reputation, rather than start with a new sponsor. That being said they have done well to turn the program 180 degrees in the right direction. This issue is not with the team itself but rather with the sponsors not paying. This is not the fault of the riders, DS, etc...the blame rests solely on the Kazakh Cycling Federation for not paying he salaries.

Thank you for clearing that up Macquet. Here we all were thinking that it was the riders and the DS that was behind the wages not getting payed but now you tell us it was the sponsors! You are truly a blessing. |

Well it just seems that people like to blame Bruyneel and Armstrong for everything that is wrong in the world today, so I though I would put defense in ahead of time, sorry if I insulted your vast intelligence...I was trying to make sure I was clear for those that don't have such astounding intellect as yourself.

Even in placing the blame properly on the team sponsors, he was not able to resist taking a shot at the team itself...that is what my comment was about, sorry you had to take the 5 seconds to read it, would you like that tiny piece of your life back. |

I didnt complain about having to read your post. I found it quite amusing. If you think your own post was so bad that you had to excuse to the people reading it then i think that tells a lot though.

I dont understand how you can see that as an attack on either the riders or the personel working with the team. If anything it is the opposite. |

When you say "after everything that happened last year"... what exactly are you referring to? I know there's a lot of suspician with Astana... but did they get caught with anyting in 2008, or were you referring to the 2007 season?
The only thing I'm aware of is that they fired Gusev for failing an internal doping test (not a race test as far as I know). Is that what you mean? |

well it's good moment to pull out one of my favorite conspiracy theory..
I dont believe that big Tailwind Sports was no able to find a new sponsor after Discovery..they decision was "pull off the plug" before something comes out. |

Would been a shame if Team Astana will close down. They can change name but not loose the riders!!

Interesting theory that has been stated before. If they had something on LA then it would have come out. The guy is hated by so many if there was any dirt then it would have been discovered whether he was an active rider or retired. |

Yeah Andy Schleck would be a good idea. But Boonen just get suspended from the Tour so no point. But maybe Hagen?

Or, if they were up to some organized doping or whatever, what could they get away with by moving the whole operation to Astana that they couldn't have kept doing as Disco? |
