Linus Gerdemann is one of the most promising riders within cycling. He has already ridden the Tour once, and that’s not all, he has also won a stage and ridden one day in the yellow jersey. Linus Gerdemann is one of the future Tour-riders.
Even though he has survived twenty-five winters, the young German rider hasn’t reached his potential. He got picked up by Bjarne Riis and Team CSC in 2005, and there he’d ride for one year under his tutor Bjarne Riis before he returned to his home country and T-Mobile, where he would develop to be a first class Grand Tour-rider.
He was pretty unknown for most people until the seventh and first climbing stage of Tour de France 2007, where he got himself in a breakaway. He was sitting in a breakaway with riders there are far more experienced than him, but when he got the chance on La Colombière, he didn’t let the chance walk away.
The season of 2008 may in some eyes look like a disappointment for Linus. Because of sickness and injuries he couldn’t compete in the Tour, the Olympic Games or any other Grand Tour. But anyway he took the careers, so far, biggest victory. When he was standing on the starting line at home, in the month change of August/September, he was ready to decorate his result list a bit. He did as he was supposed to do, he won a stage and won Deutschland Tour overall.
When Linus Gerdemann is standing on the starting line in 2009, he is standing in a new jersey, the milk white and blue and light blue Milram-jersey, chasing for new trophies.
