As far as I'm aware, higher difficulties is mainly a matter of the AI riders getting higher, althohg invisible, stats. |

Wind has split my peletons on occasion on Normal. Matter of fact, to my dismay, Cancellera got caught on the wrong end of a split during Milan-San Remo and finished 20th. |

As Crue says, the difference is that the AI-riders get more energy.
Imo the differences are like this
Mountain: Little
TT: Hugh
Sprint: Big
Hill: Tiny
Cob: Little

My own opinion is that it's a bit random - like in real life.
A while back I played the same mountain stage of the TdF with Valverde. I was 3rd on normal - maybe thru overconfidence, 2nd on hard and 3rd on extreme.
There was a difference in time gaps - I was about 20 seconds back on normal, 40 on hard and around a minute on extreme. |

Then again, if you play on normal this will happen.

Difficulty changes stats of AI riders. With easy AI riders have 95,9% of their stats. Normal: 100%. In hard 102,5%. Extreme: 104,9%.
So let's see Contador stats 80 Mountain (I don't know the real one).
Contador in easy has 95,9% of 80 = 76
Contador in normal has 100% of 80 = 80
Contador in hard has 102,5% of 80 = 82
Contador in extreme has 104,9% of 80 = 83,92 (84)
You can see this in the sheet called STA_race_difficulty in the Local.cdb |
