I have been playing for a number of years but never bothered to post a story. So, bear with me as I work out some of the early bugs.
Like many of you, I have played the big boys, played the mid table UCI teams and even taken a shot at some of thebigger Continental teams. The common thread has always been good to great talent. Well, I have gotten tired of seeing eveyone win early and win often. Don't get me wrong, I like winning as much as the next guy, I just started thinking -
This is a career based management game, why not attempt the improbable take charge of the worst rated team, work the finances, the scouts, build from the bottom and see what happens.
So, here we go...
Welcome to
First a few administrative notes.
DB: PCM.daily 09 v2.1
Difficulty: Hard
I will edit the race schedule to optimize finances and to control number of race days (i only have 10 riders)
I will not adjust the staff in the first year.
As many of you know this database does not allow new signings until June.
Next up:
Pre-season team data. |

After brief introductions to my new team, I have gotten down to the business of figuring out how I am going to survive the season, build for the future and perhaps tast a little success.
Here is the collective team data for the start of the season.
The team is very weak and very young. Kodrup and Lund are listed as the Leaders, but accross the board there is no dominant rider and no riders with any real quality. This may be much harder than anticipated.
I have secured good secondary sponsorship in the form of three 3-year contracts each over 25,000 Euros/mo. That will help with June signings and building for next year. Still, nothing will help the immedite concern, surviving the first half of the season.

I have canceled all Registrations for the month of January. With only 10 riders and all on my key races and sponsors goals being in May - August, I felt we should save some Euros and some Km's on the legs. My first race of the year will be the Tour Mediterraneen (11/02-15/02).

Just short question. Did you reach secondary sponsors by normal way or by editing DB? |

Thanks all for the support... I will try to keep my head up and continue this career long enough to see some improvement.
To answer a couple of questions...
Sponsorship: I did not alter the DB. I contacted all Danish companies and those companies that listed Denmark as secondary country. The three companies that I signed with are all Dutch and showing me a lot of faith.
Pictures: I am using GIMP and cropping the pics to 800x600. Uploading them onto photbucket and posting the thumb link. Shoudl I post the main IMG link?
Alright... on to the beatings. |

Crop the pictures to how you like them. Like I don't like posting screenshots in race of the bars etc, so I cut/crop that out.
And then copy paste the IMG link into here, the forum resizes most pictures anyway, and so clicking on them just makes the right size, which isbetter than being redirected to photobucket for every picture
Good luck with the "bad" team. Look forward to seeing how this turns out.

Tour Mediterreen - Stage 1:
This looks to be a rough test to start off the season and my career with EnergiFyn. The tough opening climb will be a real challenge to some of my riders. As for the field, there are no obvious favorites and I look for this stage to be very competative.
Less than a Km into the race the attacks begin on the tough openeing climb.
Not even half way up the opening climb and Markov is already falling off the back of the Peleton. This may be a very long season.
As we start the second hill, a long gradual climb, Ranneries is the second Fyn rider to fall off the back.
With 100km remaining a group of 6 has opened up a 2min advantage.
Nobody fights for the Mountain Points as Delfosse (Landbouwkrediet) leads the group over the top.
The lead group has now grown to 10 and the lead is now 3:15min over the pack
At the half way mark Caisse d'Epargne has taken control of the front of the peleton and begins driving down the lead group.
The peleton gobbles up the leaders as the race up the final climb and get set for a 20km run into the finish.
As the pace quickens for the sprint finish Bugge, Lund, and Meyer drop out of the peleton
With 5km remaining the hot pace has kept the sprint trains at bay.
With less than 3 km to go the final Fyn riders fall off the pace. Although a hard drive to the finish may reward them with a st.
Hushovd takes control with 1.5km to go - can anyone catch him?
It's Hushovd with the victory followed by Deeny and Turgot. |

Nice reporting (not that nice racing) try and export the results and post top 10 of the stage just to help people have an overview of things.

Not a stellar opening ride. Only three Fyn riders finished in the lead group. I have no climbing ability and no ability to stay with a talented pack in the lead out to sprint finishes. Looks like my basic strategy will be lots of patients, little risk, and hopes that I can pull some miracles.
Here is the results fro stage 1.

Tour Mediterreen - Stage 2:
Another tough opening climb with most of the Mountain Points available in the first 30km. After yesterdays tough stage I would not expect to see much attacking until the flats. The Fyn riders are being asked to work together to protect the team integrity and finish as close to main field as possible.
A km from the top of the first climb a couple of riders push for the points. None of them are on the board from yesterdays stage.
With the pace dropping and only two riders coast off the first climg, Fyn's Werenberg gambles an attack to get a jump on the second climb.
5km from the top of the second climb Werenberg has impressed as the lead group of three (including Boucher and Vaugrenard) maintain 40sec advantage on 8 others and 1+ min on the main pack.
Vaugrenard (Francaise des Jeux) with a huge burst in the last 3kn takes the second mountain and its 16 points.
Werenberg with a nice climb takes second. Fyn is on the board!!! Lets see what kind of effect this has later on in the stage. After two tough climbs, the Fyn team has taken some points, while the rest of the squad has maintained contact with the main field. Its a small victory, but I'll take it.
With 90km and only one more short climb, Vaugrenard is off solo, however the second group of 11 is pressing to catch him and open up the alreads 4:30min gap on the main pack. Werenberg is struggling to maintain contact.
Vaugrenard was able to maintain his advantage and takes the remaining mountain points. However, it was at the cost of a lot of time as the trailing group of ten is only 20sec behind while the pack has reduced the advantage to 2:30sec. Werenberg slipped back into the comfort and safety of the pack and joined all of his teammates who are still intact.
40km remaining and the lead group still 2min ahead (Vaugrenard has been caught) the CarmiOro boys take charge. For Fyn Markov and Ranneries have been dropped by the pack.
The pack smells blood as they can now see the leaders who are fighting for thiers lives. There is no doubt that a group sprint is in order.
The insurgents were caught with 10km to the finish. Now with 5km left the trains are starting to form. Fyn rider Kodrup is in good position in the middle of the shot. (too bad he sprints at 60...)
700m remaining and the Yellow Jersey is rushing in from the left. However, Van Heerden (MTN) is showing speed.
Its the CarmiOro rider Ventoso who had the right wheel and speed today. Valverde was a close second.
Fyn riders: Kodrup ended up 73rd with Bugge, Lund and Hansen hanging onto the main pack. Werenberg after scoring some climbing points ended up losing more than 4 minutes.

When you write Markov is assume you mean Mørkøv, cna`tyou just write Mörköv instead? just so its a little easier to know who it is, Markov sounds like a Russian name |
