The Track World Cup heads to Denmark, and David Muntaner will be looking to repeat victory in the opening race of the season. He duly starts the race off at the front, alongside local favourite Mike Lauge, and Italian Elia Viviani.
Muntaner wont stay at the front though, as Viviani, Kneisky and Bobridge take up the early pace
Dutchman Levi Heimans takes over from Viviani
And Heimans starts to stretch out the group
The riders at the back have to work hard just to stay on the wheel of the guy they are following, and with 3 laps to go some of them must be thinking about moving towards the front
Mark Christian does just that, trying to find a good position
More impressive is Mike Lauge. Buoyed by home support he charges up to the front, alongside Heimans
Inside the final two laps and the pace is being picked up by Heimans once again
There is plenty of maneouvring and as they cross the line for the final lap, it appears that Edwin Avila is moving into the lead
But Cody O'Reilly comes over the top of Avila around the top bend
The Colombian and American are battling on the inside, but this is not a two man race as around the final bend, more riders look to get into position. Mike Lauge is back at the front and going strong.
Avila is edging back infront as the line approaches - with Petrovskiy also finishing strongly
Edwin Avila takes victory!
2nd for O'Reilly as a strong finish for Petrovskiy denies Lauge a place on the podium
The line really couldnt have come any sooner for Avila, with O'Reilly and Petrovskiy moving past him barely a few metres past the line. Muntaner finishes 8th.
