Conveniently for us the small countries have agreed to ride their national championships in alphabetic order. Today we have results through C. Some highlights first and then all the results.
The closest road race was in Bulgaria where Robov edged Lilovski on the line to take his 5th straight Bulgarian title (and 6th overall). Other close races came in sprints in Argentina (Contreras over Tivani), Costa Rica (Retana over Huertas) and Cuba (Vera Hernandez over Perez).
6th titles were a bit of a theme as Frankovic won his 6th in Croatia, Richardson in Bermuda and Sakalou in Belarus (Sakalou won his first all the way back in 2013). Kamberaj went one better taking his 7th Albanian title, reclaiming it after Zhupa broke his string of 6 consecutive wins last year.
A number of close finishes in the TT races. Codoy edged Gaspar to win what was, surprisingly, his first ever Brazilian NC. Huertas having just lost the road race was edged by Arias Villanueva in the TT and had to settle for double second places in Costa Rica. Cabrera upset Ferreyra for the Chilean title in closely fought battle. Kolev took the Bulgarian title ahead of Papanov, ending a run of 7 straight wins for Valentin Stoenchev. Joshua Kelly took advantage of an unusually hilly course in Barbados to beat Vanderpool for the TT title, Vanderpool’s run of titles ends at 6. Sepulveda (over Gomez) also scored a close win in Argentina.
Finally, Liam Holowesko won the Bahamian TT to complete the double making him the first registered rider other than Jay Major to win a Bahamas NC.
