Stage 2 Report

Very similar stage today to yesterday, this time 198k into Middleburg. Two sprints and no KOMs.

The top 3 favorites are also the same.

Heinrich takes out the second sprint at the 42k mark. He is U25 eligible so can take the jersey in that competition if he hangs on. Peloton tried to catch them for this sprint and is just 32 seconds down.

400 meters, Koumpetsos is done, Ballerini will try and take it for cycleYorkshire with his leader caught behind. If he cracks Groves and Farantakis are next although the Greek still needs to find room. The riders in the middle of the road may have waited too long to jump. Minali and Kooij the best of them right now.

100 meters, Groves passes the flagging Ballerini, Farantakis flying now having slid past his fading lead out man on the barrier. Vermeersch with a great late charge is just ahead of Kooij with Philipsen and Hsu on his wheel.

With his second stage win Farantakis adds the points jersey to his race leader’s jersey. Heinrich loses time so Kooij will get the U25 jersey.

But with the cobbled stage coming up the big news is that a late split in the peloton caught out most of the top cobblers (except Pedersen and Siric who were involved in the sprint and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tti.png Kamyshev.) The split loses 3 minutes. Last year the cobbled stage proved decisive but they will need it to make up that time this year.
