The MTT yesterday had a rather surprising result and many GC favourites lost quite some time. Today is the first of three mountain stages with a long flat start and a final double climb to give the GC even more structure.

A group of 15 riders forms the break of the day and with both some good climbers and some teams with multiple riders in there the peloton will have to pay attention not to give them too much leeway. The riders are:

The intermediate sprint didnâ€™t gather any interest and with 100 km to go the gap is getting smaller after maxing at about 5 minutes.

The long flat didnâ€™t make for anything interesting. The break enters the final climb with a gap of 1â€™50. Itâ€™s actually a cat. 3 climb followed by a short descent followed by a cat. 2 climb to the finish, but essentially itâ€™s about 28 km uphill from now on.
