Circulo de Juarez - Stage 1

[HC] Circulo de Juarez
--
Stage 1

Welcome to one of the most straight forward stage races in the PCT circuit: the Circulo de Juarez. Five pan flat stages without TTs of any kind make it clear this race is for the sprinters and so it’s no surprise the top dogs of the division are here to show who’s the alpha early in the season. Sowehow the organizers were able to find some road bumps to even make for a KoM competition of some kind.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0001.jpg

The first KoM sprint is just some km into the race, so the first four riders who attacked are also battling out those points. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eve.png Muhindo takes 5 of them, beating pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/hvc.png Gilmore and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Noia. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eve.png Oshri is with them but misses out on points.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0002.jpg

Those four are also the break of the day. The order at the first intermediate sprint is the same. With no real difficulties in the race profiles taking bonus seconds (and then finish with the pack) is also a good way for minor GC or even good U25 positions at the end of the race. The gap is around 6 minutes now.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0003.jpg

There’s not much happening for the next 90 km (apart from the occasional puncture). Finally pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eve.png Oshri was dropped just before the next intermediate sprint where pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eve.png Muhindo takes maximum points once again. This time pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Noia beats pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/hvc.png Gilmore for second place. The peloton is only 57’’ behind though, so maybe the attackers will be caught even before the second KoM sprint in 10 km.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0004.jpg

They just make it there. It seemed like pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Noia will finally beat pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eve.png Muhindo for once, but the Namibian NC just rolled by in the end. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/hvc.png Gilmore was caught just before the peak (let’s call it that) so pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Moricz gets a point out of his chasing duties.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0005.jpg

And the catch is made shortly afterwards (you can just see the KoM sprint on the summit in the background). It’s still 30 km to go, but the industrious domestiques of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Spark, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/aab.png Assa Abloy and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png MOL will do their best to keep everything under control like they did all day.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0006.jpg

It’s still 17 km to go, but the three teams already have their trains at the front. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/gct.png Gjensidige also tries to join the fun as does pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/hvc.png Hunter Valley. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/blt.png Bolt – Eesti also has the numbers at the front, but they’re still trying to organize.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0007.jpg

And with 10 km to go it’s mostly the same picture.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0008.jpg

With 4 km to go the newly found pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/ipc.png IncaLine joins the fun in their first wildcard race. There’s only one corner left around 2 km before the finish, so it will come down to timing. All trains have at least 2 men before their sprinters left.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0009.jpg

With 2 km to go it’s just straight ahead. The Peruvians fell behind and won’t have anything to do with the sprint, but all other leadouts still seems fine.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0010.jpg

The sprint hasn’t started under the red kite. The likes of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tir.png Grosu, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dvt.png Willwohl, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mck.png Riabushenko, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/min.png Kamberaj and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/cko.png El Sabbahi are following the trains on the left side of the road. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/blt.png Peak is the only one trusting on pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Ewans train on the right.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0011.jpg

With 400 m to go the sprint is finally on! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/aab.png Dainese leads, but pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Ewan is right on his side. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mck.png Riabushenko is in third at the moment. The next line consists of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Coquard, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tir.png Grosu and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/blt.png Peak besides the leadout men falling behind.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0012.jpg

Mostly the same picture with 200 m to go. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/blt.png Peak is the fastest of the second row and closing in on the three leaders.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0013.jpg

But in the end pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Ewan is the fastest and takes the win! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mck.png Riabushenko just beats pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/aab.png Dainese on the line for 2nd. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/blt.png Peak is 4th.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0014.jpg

Behind them pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tir.png Grosu, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/min.png Kamberaj, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Coquard, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Einhorn, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/lot.png Liu and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eth.png Perera complete the top 10 and take the remaining bonus seconds.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0015.jpg

Congratulations to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Ewan for achieving a commanding win and obviously also taking yellow and green in the process.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0016.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eve.png Muhindo leads the KoM classification after a strong day in the break.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Juarez/PCM0017.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/hvc.png Gilmore profits from another generous jury decision on time gaps at the finish and leads the U25 classification.
