2025 sees a change of sponsor and a change of division for the team. As you can see from the history posts above, this is a team that has been through various different iterations - be that being a British team, a French team, a Sri Lankan team, a mix of all three or none of the above, a team full of talents, or a retirement home on wheels. This latest iteration is in our view, an exciting new chapter, slightly different from all of the above.
Firstly, the big question. With the team's name featuring "Eesti", does that mean that it will be an Estonian focused team in the way that we were a Sri Lankan focused team in the Ayubowan era? The answer to that in short is no - the sponsors want to promote Estonia, but like the country's famed e-residency system that doesn't necessarily require Estonians! However, we will try to prioritise signing Estonians where they will improve the team, but only at the right price. This means we expect the number of Estonian riders to be small, but in all likelihood more than zero.
Secondly, you can see from our team history when we stopped prioritising signing talents. From 2013 to 2020 we had at least ten U25 top 10s every season, but since then we've had 6, 6, 1 and 5 in each following season. That is something we want to change in our new era, and we hope to add to the talents we signed last season to make the team younger and improve our chances for the future. Moving down to PCT creates an opportunity for us to sign more talents, but the trade-off with that is a potentially more challenging season. That is to say, we don't expect to fight for promotion this season, rather we expect it to be more likely that we're aiming to avoid the relegation battle.
Finally, the question of what the above means for our existing riders? We mentioned towards the end of last season that every rider has a price, and we stand by that statement. Our analysis has shown that the key to PT success in the long term is having a top star - something we have never really had - and none of our current riders fit the bill, nor can be trained to that level. With that in mind, we take the view that if we can raise the money to sign a rider of that level, we will consider selling anyone. However, for some riders (particularly our talents) we suspect our assessment of their value will exceed what anyone would want to offer. Though for others we think our valuation is so low that we will see bidding wars for their services, which of course we would welcome! |

I'm not surprised you want to develop more talents again after the De Bie experiment failed. The talk of needing a top star and the relegation battle comment paint an interesting picture for sure. Sounds like you will be in for the next super talent to appear on the horizon?

As ever I expect we'll be involved in the bidding for the top talents, but whether one of them becomes our number one target will depend on who else is available. My usual approach to teambuilding based on depth and one or two solid leaders has shown that it won't work in PT, so a change is needed - 4 seasons and a best finish of 12th confirms that really. Ideally that would involve signing someone who can be that top star right away, but that seems unlikely within PCT cap and budget constraints, so pursuing a top talent makes sense.
However, the fear of relegation there comes from the fact that on the evidence of last season our roster isn't very good, and won't be improved by relegation. So spending big money on a rider who will likely contribute very few points may not be the smartest move and could make double relegation a real possibility. I guess a CT rebuild would be fun though?  |

Not surprised with the path of signing talents being the priority for the team once again. Looking forward to who the eventual targets end up being. Also wonder who the big star will be who will be charged with the responsibility of bringing success to the team. Looking forward to the new direction. The jersey also looks very unique!

From the looks of it you may have a fairly busy transfer season ahead of you. And you always have a bunch of interesting riders so we'll probably talk at some point. At the very least I may inquire about getting Crncevic back
