Stage 1


Welcome to Morocco for the first stage of the 7th Tour du Maroc. The start into this race should be a rather easy one, given the stage is pan flat and doesn’t even has a KoM sprint.

A break of three got away rather easily. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/mck.png Milesi, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/gct.png Christian and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/ctt.png Dobre will fight for the intermediate sprints, but there’s no chance the fresh chasers will let them take the stage.

It’s the same order at the second sprint. The gap is down to 4’41.

The same picture once again at the third sprint. The gap has been further reduced to 2’51 with 51 km to go.

The break is finally caught with 8 km to go.

It’s an interesting sprint preparation variant we see today. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/sct.png Barbari should have been the second to last man for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/sct.png Zariff, instead it seems he’s leading out the Malaysian’s leadout man pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/sct.png Page. The two have a gap with 2.4 km to go. The two Everesting riders on the right aren’t part of their sprint train either.

With 1.8 km to go the two leaders seem to have noticed they forgot their captain – so they sit up. They already had a gap of 14’’, so their DS will be very happy with this decision, probably shouting his joy at them in the team bus later …
