Well here it is, my new story. Rapha won the poll so they get the benefit of my years of managerial experience The aim of this story is to take this team as high as i possibly can. It's not going to be easy and will take a few seasons. I want to try to keep the team as British as possible but i'm not going to pass up the opportunity to sign riders who will dramatically improve the squad. I will be keeping to the salery cap and paying close attention to my finances.
My aim for the first couple of seasons will be to be the dominant force in British/Irish cycling (except for Barloworld, but they're not really British so don't count) Then i will look to improve within the Continental tour before going for promotion.
I will be playing on hard as i don't like extreme. It's so hard it becomes unrealistic. I won't be fiddling with the stats or days raced or anything else, simply because i don't know how.
Any more questions then please feel free to ask.

Here is my basic presentation of the squad and our goals. The squad is mostly British and the focus will be on getting good results in the British races.
Here is the Squad:
Newton and Downing will most likely lead the squad until i can bring someone else in. My goals are quite achievable and are all focused on British/Irish races.
When i get a chance i will sit down and plan out my riders training plans and race schedules as well as looking for new sponsors and potential new signings.
any questions please feel free to ask.

thanks guys. prob won't get to play that much this weekend as i've got to help my girlfriend get her car MOT'd today and i'm going to see the Alkaline Trio tonight. Then i'm at work tomorrow but i might get to play a bit on the night.
My first couple of sessions will be spent trying to get sponsors, having a look at some free agents and sorting out my riders training plans (which hopefully won't take to long with only 12 riders)
First race is the La Tropicale Amissa Bongo were i'll prob just be looking to get in some breaks and try for one of the jerseys. Hopefully it won't be too long before i actually start racing.

I've started off with Rapha too. I'll have to keep an eye on you to see if I can pick up any tips!
Have you had any issues selecting the right equipment for a stage? all my frames, wheels and helmets have the same impact |

The impact doesn't matter, it doesn't have real impact, biscuit.
Good luck! |

had a spare hour this morning so i've sorted out my squads training plans for the season. As i only have 12 riders it didn't take as long as it usually does, which is a nice change. As i mentioned earlier, Newton and Downing will be my main leaders this year. They're not the best sprinters in the world but they're the best i've got and my only real hope of achieving anything this season.
Chris Newton:
Will act as a team help in the first half of the season before coming into form for the Abergavenny International Crit and the British Champs in June and then leading the team at the Tour of Ireland and Britain in August and September.
Dean Downing:
The opposite season to Newton really. He'll be hitting fitness for the East Midlands Classic in April and the goals we have in June before helping Newton as a domestique in the two tours.
Dan Craven:
Talented African will be aiming for the two tours at the end of season where he will try to use his good climbing and testing ability to finish as high up the GC as possible. He's our best hope for a top 10 finish.
Darren Lapthorne:
Another good climber will be aiming to help Craven at the two tours.
Hopefully we'll have enough about us to achive all our goals and finish as the highest placed British side.

In other news i've sent my scout to have a look around Britain. Hopefully he'll dig something up.
Couldn't find ant British sponsrs but a Spanish company came in and offered us £9000 a month for 24 months so i bit there hand off and accepted.
Cadel Evans won the Aussie TT champs. I didn't want to send Lapthorne as i thought it was a waste of time but the game wouldn't let me not send him. Maybe something the makers could look at in the future.

oh yeah, i also made a bit of a school boy error when i started my game yesterday in that i took the screenshots but then didn't advance a day so the game didn't save. had to start again this morning but i hadn't done anything so nothing was lost. Only difference is my calender is different. our seson will now start in New Zealand at the Tour of Wellington instead of the Bongo, which i think is better. |

wooo, it's snowing heavily in Birmingham again so i got sent home from work 3 hours early, which means 3 hours of PCM Plenty of time to get a good start on some actual riding.
i'll just go and have a shower and then get started.
p.s what frame, wheels and helmet should i ride with for Rapha? In real life they ride some kind of weird Condor own brand frames which aren't on the game. i think they still ride in Giro helmets but the only ones on the game are either team colours or colours which don't go with the kit, like red and yellow. could do with a plain black helmet really. |

Australian Championships:
After his win at the ITT Champs a few days ago Cadel Evans is the favourite for todays hilly circuit race to determine the 2009 Australian Champion. He duely delivers and rides away to a solid solo victory.
Darren Lapthorne rides well to take 13th place.
Up next is our first race of the season at the Tour of Wellington where we will be trying to get into some breaks and contest a couple of the sprints with Chris Newton. |
