Today is the crucial stage for the GC. We’ll focus on the best TTists as do the organizers.
Dillier is the first proper TTer on the course. He sets the best time in 31’34.
Cataford is the first rider to beat his time at the split. He is the new leader at the finish with a time of 31’27.
Ioannidis comes close, but he’s 6’’ down in the end.
Paillot sets a new best time in 31’25.
Christapopoulos is 8’’ down.
Kiriakidis joins his teammates by being 8’’ down, too.
Noia is another second slower.
Haugard was a single second behind at the split and that’s only his gap at the finish.
It’s probably the last day we see Kmieliauskas in his team colours as he’s the clear favourite for the U25 classification. He’s one second down at the split, but he gains this second back to match the best time. He’s given the lead for now.
Norsgaard has pretty much the same race as the young Lithuanian, but he’s one second down in the end.
Beniusis sets a new best time of 31’18.
Howson beats this time by a mere second.
Durbridge is on par with his compatriot, but he’s given the lead for now.
Bjerg is a second down in the end, that’s 3ed place for now.
Dunbar is the last of the TTers and the big favourite for today. He proves this by being 13’’ faster and winning this stage (and probably also the race).
The remaining sprinters are no contest, but we at least have a look at the man in yellow.
