The Race

The organizers favour the more hybrid puncheurs (and some climbers).

After the initial up and down part of the race the break has a gap of 4’43. They still have 130 km to ride.

After the long flat middle part the gap is down to 1’51. The 10 leaders are entering the next climb with 73 km to go.

Egger tried the same, but he is a bit behind the Norwegian.

The two attackers are brought back by the peloton in the next (and last) flatter part of the race. The break is 1’10 ahead. From now on it’s a constant up and down.

Bystrom paid for his earlier attack and is already dropped.

In the descent all those attackers are brought back. The peloton is now down to 49 riders. Some more attacks are quickly shut down.

With 18 km to go it’s only up and down to the finish. The leading group is down to 45 riders.
