With yesterdays hilly finish having sorted the GC riders a bit without too much selection yet, todays stage looks a bit more difficult. The longer climbs are already coming early or not in the final phase of the stage but there is barely any flat section in the final third and at times very steep and short hills, which pretty much are an invitation for attacks.

Today the allrounders might have best chances to gap the pure climbers with riders such as Teuns being in the mix as well while Cattaneo and co. must hope for a calm pace.

6 riders in the break and obviously pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/see.png Hamza being there. When attacking as GC runner up even, he now has more freedom since he lost quite a bit yesterday.

With 30 km to go we already are at the last KoM and slopes above 14 %. Just 47 riders are within the favourite group with Lotto`s Drizners doing the pace for his leader Kyeng Ho Min.

Just being dropped are
A1 Tejada
A2 Roson, Warbasse, Natarov, Teuns
A4 Spanopoulos

In especially Teuns is surprising here as he was ranked as top favourite even. Even more surprising as Boswell is still one of the very last riders in the favourite group, where he fights for staying in contact just like climber Berhane or fellow puncheur Lagane.

More and more riders though lose contact over the top with just 30 riders now in group 1, which is also the end of the break, that lastet till then.

The formerly mentioned Berhane/Boswell etc. are now in this picture and just dropped but might have chances to make it back on the next parts.

24 km and it`s down to 26 riders but in a long stretched field, a lot of riders might come back.

Hibatullah either works for Frankiny or having the go to attack. At least he opens a gap to the next including the top tier level favourites around Oomen.
Sakalour quickly catches him again though.

Next attack comes from pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/taf.png Gebremedhin, who opens quite a gap with 20km to go.
25 riders in the first group behind, then a trio and then another 30, which basically are about to make a group of almost 60 riders as the gap is tiny.

18 km and Oomen himself was chasing once the groups merged with almost 90 in total again. Behind him Rodrigues and others. With slopes of 15 % right now there surely will be more gaps over the top.
Meanwhile Gebremedhin is caught as well.

In the end a group of 16 riders only made it over the top and now it looks like a much more likely selection with gaps being bigger than before.

In group 1:
Oomen, Ranaweera, Johannessen, Rodrigues, Mavrikakis, Masnada, Min, Tenorio, Cattaneo, Misbah, Frankiny, Vasyliv, Lasinis, Agrotis, Iturria

In group 2: +50s: Ioannidis, Ndayisenga, Potocki with Pronskiy just ahead of them

Then in groups 3 and onwards Spanopolous, Dall'Oste, Pinot and others.

Dyrnes, Teuns, Calmejane area out of contention and also Berhane is done for the day.

Misbah being almost dropped here and just fighting as pure climber, same could be said about Cattaneo just one position ahead or Lasinis and Iturria. They clearly look a bit more in struggle than the others. Then again for some riders it`s still a huge performance to be up there on their weakest day on paper.

800 m and the sprint starts. Johannessen and Frankiny in the first positions.
Rodrigues and Oomen come next on both sides with all others in the middle.

Cattaneo just lost contact just like Misbah. They need to fight now to avoid a bigger time loss on the final part.

200 m and Masnada looking good now with Frankiny slowly moving backwards.
Min and Oomen also being fast with Johannessen still not giving up.

And while it looked a lot closer, Johannessen still starts celebrating early being confdent to not losing it anymore.

Oomen and Masnada follow for some bonus seconds ahead of Min and Frankiny.
The others in that group were Rodrigues, Mavrikakis, Vasyliv, Ranaweera.
9 riders s.t.

Then a small gap to Tenorio and Lasinis, which in the end were 22s and another 10s for Iturria.
Already 56s in total for Agrotis as best support rider for ELCO and then Cattaneo/Misbah having 1'09. Huge loss in the end on the final 2km but they must have been above their limit for a long time.

Almost being caught by group Ioannisis/Spanopoloulos/Gall/Gebremedhin... so 4 ELCO riders in top25 making those the obvious team ranking leader.
