Frankfurt - Eschborn (C1) - Preview
Welcome to Germany for the sixth edition of Frankfurt - Eschborn. A home race for several teams on the calendar and at the startline tomorrow, but so far none of the (primarily) German teams have been able to win it. No tea, no shade, just facts. No rider has won this race more than once, but Specialized were able to win the race twice. Whitejersey, this is your chance to become Mr. 50%. Or as they would say in Frankfurt, mein Herr 50 per Zent. Let's have a look at the profile.
It's a special race. Classified as flat, but the constant up and down in the first three quarters of the race always make sure the race stays a bit unpredictable. Sprinters have won here, but as our possible Mr. 50% can acknowledge with the wins of Kump and Dzamastagic, other type of riders also know how they can win here. Okay, first a look at the sprinters.
Nat. | Name | FL | MO | HI | ST | RS | SP | AC | | Coquard Bryan | 73 | 59 | 67 | 71 | 74 | 84 | 83 | | Vesely Daniel | 73 | 60 | 68 | 74 | 68 | 81 | 80 | | Ahlstrand Jonas | 72 | 58 | 65 | 71 | 70 | 81 | 79 | | Enger Sondre Holst | 73 | 63 | 69 | 71 | 73 | 81 | 78 | | Liu Jiankun | 74 | 63 | 67 | 76 | 69 | 80 | 80 | | Aniolkowski Stanislaw | 76 | 62 | 66 | 76 | 74 | 80 | 79 | | Coutinho Lionel | 72 | 63 | 65 | 75 | 74 | 79 | 80 | | Walscheid Maximilian | 73 | 55 | 63 | 71 | 74 | 79 | 79 | | Willwohl Willi | 73 | 53 | 65 | 71 | 67 | 79 | 78 | | Contreras Emiliano | 72 | 65 | 68 | 73 | 75 | 78 | 80 | | Waersted Syver | 73 | 62 | 67 | 69 | 78 | 78 | 79 | | Liepins Emils | 73 | 60 | 66 | 73 | 68 | 78 | 79 | | Page Dylan | 75 | 57 | 66 | 72 | 72 | 78 | 79 | | Losch Max | 73 | 52 | 65 | 72 | 68 | 78 | 79 | | Mareczko Jakub | 74 | 53 | 61 | 71 | 73 | 78 | 77 | | Stallaert Joeri | 76 | 59 | 66 | 75 | 67 | 78 | 75 | | Bertilsson Christian | 72 | 53 | 68 | 70 | 69 | 78 | 75 | | Degenkolb John | 70 | 55 | 63 | 64 | 62 | 78 | 72 | | Ackermann Pascal | 72 | 65 | 77 | 75 | 71 | 77 | 80 | | Wouters Enzo | 75 | 66 | 68 | 73 | 75 | 77 | 79 |
Coquard is the strongest sprinter by far, but not a superb climber. A batch of eight other guys with 80+ in either sprint or acceleration, of which Ackermann obviously stands out. The German with four other Tafjord teammates on this list, will be interesting to see how they play it. Ahlstrand the only other top sprinter with less than 60 mountain, but compared to most other sprinter the difference really isn't that big.
Aniolkowski, Page, Stallaert and Wouters the best rouleurs among the sprinters, whereas Coutinho is Specialized's sprinter card for their next Frankfurt win.
There are also some good rouleurs at the startlist.
Nat. | Name | FL | MO | HI | ST | RS | SP | AC | | Manamalage Nipuna Shira | 81 | 51 | 59 | 71 | 64 | 57 | 56 | | Cherkasov Nicolay | 80 | 70 | 71 | 72 | 74 | 70 | 75 | | Suter Joel | 79 | 65 | 71 | 75 | 74 | 68 | 74 | | Andersen Idar | 78 | 70 | 70 | 70 | 75 | 68 | 69 | | Mundle Benedikt | 78 | 58 | 64 | 67 | 71 | 58 | 67 |
These five really stand out. Cherkasov, Suter and Andersen could be extra dangerous as they can still be rather fresh as well with their versatility of skills on the flat, punching and climbing.
Speaking about puncheurs, there are some guys here that could perhaps make use of that slight uphill sector near the end with a sneaky attack as well. And the finish seems to be slightly uphill as well.
Nat. | Name | FL | MO | HI | ST | RS | SP | AC | | Waeytens Zico | 69 | 70 | 79 | 70 | 68 | 65 | 71 | | Watson Calvin | 70 | 65 | 78 | 76 | 72 | 62 | 72 | | Ackermann Pascal | 72 | 65 | 77 | 75 | 71 | 77 | 80 | | Gladysh Roman | 72 | 70 | 77 | 73 | 72 | 71 | 76 | | Cepeda Hernandez Jefferson | 70 | 75 | 77 | 71 | 70 | 66 | 74 | | Mager Christian | 70 | 74 | 77 | 68 | 70 | 60 | 71 | | Nikiema Bachirou | 69 | 70 | 77 | 72 | 74 | 70 | 76 | | Zordan Andrea | 67 | 73 | 77 | 72 | 72 | 65 | 74 | | Grossschartner Felix | 67 | 74 | 77 | 72 | 73 | 62 | 72 | | Gabburo Davide | 75 | 68 | 76 | 73 | 75 | 72 | 76 | | McCormick Hayden | 70 | 66 | 76 | 74 | 71 | 73 | 73 | | Lopez Juan Pedro | 66 | 78 | 76 | 71 | 72 | 60 | 78 | | Lienhard Fabian | 73 | 66 | 75 | 77 | 72 | 73 | 76 | | Drizners Jarrad | 72 | 63 | 75 | 73 | 73 | 73 | 78 | | Rumac Josip | 71 | 72 | 75 | 72 | 70 | 74 | 76 | | Arndt Nikias | 70 | 78 | 75 | 76 | 75 | 70 | 74 | | Norbert Andrew | 75 | 67 | 71 | 75 | 77 | 77 | 75 |
A lot of these riders are definitely hoping they can shine themselves instead of a pure sprinter or rouleur taking the win. Cervelo well represented in this list, CT in general actually. Several riders on here with a mix of both a good punch and decent sprint, or in the case like home rider Arndt, even a good climb in their legs. Good luck to everyone tomorrow, startlist in the spoiler below.

Bonifazio was out of racedays, so we're here with Mareczko. He hasn't had the best season so far, so this his is chance to make up for that.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I'm hopeful but not overly optimistic with Stallaert here. Would be nice to be in the breakaway with Kuypers or one of our youngsters, and then anything in the Top 15 range would be nice from Joeri. Good luck everyone and thanks for the preview Nemo!

Don't know if it was the right choice to bring Wouters and Liu together. Fingers crossed!

I'm only an interested viewer here, but in the best German tradition of correcting anything only slightly wrong (especially when non-native speakers make a tiny error no other non-native speaker would ever spot ) I have to tell you that Mr. 50 % translates to Herr 50 Prozent, though I'm not sure at all how it would be in the rather obscure Hessian dialect.

Finally Page gets another chance to shine (without Zariff). Let's see if he can make anything of it - or perhaps Mundle or Nikiema are better suited for this race?

This will be another dissapointing race for us. Most likely a sprint finish, so looking forward to our old man Degenkolb doing a dissapointing sprint in his home country!

Not sure what we were doing there at the end, but at least we beat Coquard?
Thanks for the report KB!

Unfortunate, but neither unexpected nor unreasonable that Stallaert didn't manage to stay with the favorites. Good effort by loanees Huby and Kulindwa, I was briefly hoping to benefit from yet another surprising breakaway success, but it wasn't meant to be. Huge win for Babymetal though, congrats! And thanks for the report Imladrik!

Was trying to send a reply to the preview at first but the site being slow meant I didn't get around to doing that so first of all thanks for a great preview!
Given Coutinho's recent form I was not overly optimistic about his chances here but alas what a great result for us! A podium finish, but also a huge result for Babymetal, great ride!
Thanks for the report!

11 points is decent - could have been better, could have been worse.
Congrats to Babymetal with the win

Not what we hoped for by Enger, but at least it was a decent team performance so we get some more points with us.
On to the next one!
Congrats to Babymetal and thanks alot KB |
