Stage 3


The sprinters had their opportunities, now we enter the climbing part of the race. The third stage is rated hilly, but with quite some climbing underway the organizers favour the GC riders for the win.

It took until the slopes of the first climb (Côte de Morgins; cat. 1; 9.9 km at 5.8 %) for all attackers to come together, but now we have a break of 15 riders out front:

The gap never really got above 3 minutes and is down to 1’43 when the 15 leaders enter the next climb (Col du Corbier; cat. 1; 7.2 km at 7.7 %) with 50 km to go.

The break crumbled apart when the Kraftwerk duo pushed the pace. The Kraftwerk duo enters the penultimate climb (Pas de Morgins; cat. 2; 6.2 km at 5.1 %) 39’’ in front of their three remaining chasers. The peloton caught everyone else and is another 56’’ behind.
