Guldhammer to get on the podium, that seems doable but the 1’30 to Bernard more of a stretch.

Daniel Munoz in 10th so we will handle the top 9 separately. We’ll split the remaining 126 riders into two groups of 63.

The First 63 Riders

Viennet lost a lot of time working for Jorgenson, so he is first down the ramp. Theoretically he could hold the hot seat for the entire stage. His two biggest rivals for stage, the Gjensidige duo of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/gct.png

Van Moer will start about 40 riders later. Most of the top TT riders lost a lot of time so they are in this first group

Predatsch comes through the time check on the same time as Viennet, we will see if he can keep it up. The weaker riders are losing 1’45+ on Viennet so Jorgenson certainly has the chance to make up the time he needs.

At the time check Politt is 2 seconds down on Knotten, Van Moer 2 seconds up.

Politt loses another 6 seconds in the second half, which briefly puts him 2nd but he drops to 3rd because Van Moer beats his teammates time by 3 seconds to take over the lead. It is looking good for a Gjensidige 1-2 as only pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/dvt.png

Akhmaevi and Jorgenson are left to finish among the favorites.

Akhmaevi slots into 5th, +0’14. He is the last major competitor in this group.

Petelin is the next rider on the course, he started the day with a 31 second cushion on Iturria. He loses 2’28 to Van Moer and also drops behind Iturria and friends.

But right behind him Arensman goes much better, he finishes 14th on the day, +0’36 and is the new GC leader.

Penasa’s time of +1’26 vs Van Moer is exactly 50 seconds worse than Arensman. We will have to see how the fractions play on that one.

Smith loses another 10 seconds he will drop to 10th on the GC unless he gains slots on riders still to come.

Lunke started the day further ahead of Arensman and his time of +0’47 is more than good enough to give him the virtual GC.

Bennett’s achilles heel. Today is no different, he loses 2’12 (84th). That is 36 seconds worse than Smith, who he started 34 seconds ahead of. Bennett down to 10th on virtual GC.

Lafay has had a nice race but is also not know for his ability on the TT bike. +2’22 for him, he gives away all of his 7 second advantage on Bennett and drops to 10th pushing the others up. Big day for Gjensidige right now, they have the top two on the stage and are looking strong in the virtual GC.

Carapaz next man home. +0’55 for him, 26th on the day. That is good enough to keep him ahead of Lunke, he can finish no worse than 4th.

Guldhammer started the day with a 25 second edge on Carapaz. He loses that in the TT finishing on +1’40, 45 seconds behind the Ecuadorian. He had over a minute on Lunke so he won’t lose more places. He drops off the podium but Tafjord will still be partying tonight.

Jorgenson next, he came through the first time check 8 seconds down. He could be the first rider since Van Moer to crack the top 10. He doesn’t do it, he fades to 11th, +0’21. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/ghn.png

Bernard needs to finish within +1’22 of Van Moer to win the GC. + 2’25 to hold second.

He was 46 seconds down at the check. The win seems doomed, 2nd looks safe.
