It’s a break of four today. With no KoM points on offer and no major difficulties to upset the sprinter teams pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/pum.png Zegklis, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/ced.png Selimovic, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/rab.png Frigo and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/ziz.png Blanca Pareja can’t hope for much more than some TV time.

The first intermediate sprint about halfway through the stage isn’t contested, but at least gives us a reason to give an update as there’s nothing happening on the road (not even the occasional puncture): the gap is about 3 minutes with 96 km to go.

So let’s jump to the second sprint point with 28 km to go. The break is caught with 16 km to go and – more important for all those managers which hearts stopped some moments ago – the split was undone after the sprinters wasted their energy fighting for the last point in the intermediate sprint and stopped pushing. Shortly afterwards we have the next uninspired split, but all of the riders named before were more attentive this time. No one of interest was dropped, so this split probably will last and add more time losses to some climbers eyeing at the mountain breaks.
