Welcome to Cheshire just imagine there’s no déjà vu after the organizers caught those nasty oil spills yesterday that cause many crashes we should get a cleaner race today.
Todays Profile
This profile looks slightly on the hilly side compared to a mini Strade Bianchi rather than a Roubaix or Ronde though with most sections on the course the gravel kind with kind Cobbles akin to the Lincoln GP on the finishing climb this should lead to a wide open race.
150km to go we finally have our 12 man breakway Ansons Bdadou Cataford Dunne Eriksson Rubenis Salby Van Sintmaartensdijk Murillo Uhlig Malacarne Redy
In the peloton its all , & on the front and they have the gap at around 4”00 most of the early part of the race.
First time over the big climb of the day we start to see action, Rubenis Van Sintmaartensdijk Murillo and Malacarne are dropped but the peloton is giving no inch today the gap is under "1"30 already at 70km to go
The peloton is not letting the break go anywhere today though we are down to 45 riders the break has "50 seconds and is now in sight
Van Hooydonck sets a melting pace on the minor cobbles and causes a huge spilt in the group we have all the main cobbled threats with him without Kasperkiewicz and Daniel but sense the danger and start to pace.
Daniel can't go the pace again on this climb he will be dropped and never make it back to the front of the race as the peloton spilts all over the road. As you can see in front the favourites attack is catching the break
are panicking and drill the rest of the climb this drops nearly all the peloton coming to the top of the hill but they haven't yet made the catch the gaps are going to be enormous today though this long hill causes so many spilts throughout.
Riesebeek makes the junction at the next cobbled sector all the favourites remain with a mix of breakaway riders and good hill riders in the 25 riders left.
The 11 favourites in the group have attacked and our clear now they are
Polanc Benoot Altur Kasperkiewicz Gerts Anderberg Debesay Per Siric Van Hooydonck Teunissen
Thats the 2nd to last climb out the way and still our 11 are in front Marzuki gets within inches of joining the group but cracks in the last 50m and will not make it in for the finale. Polanc senses a lull at the front and rides tempo hard over the top to get a gap.
Polanc has gone he has hit them at the right time and looks impervious on this long straight drag back to the final hill. Anderberg and Per are chasing but most of the group looks spent now!
Disaster Polanc punctures the races was his to lose he had just gone past 1 min the mechanics in the neutral service scramble to get his wheel changed before the group comes past there is only 6km to go!
Polanc gets lucky and just catches the end of the leading group as they attack past but everything is brought back and we will have a 10 man sprint up the cobbled finish.
Benoot haqs been dropped on this drag to the line but will finish 11th as the gap to the next group is a massive 4 minutes.
Altur and Kasperkiewicz
goes early on the left but are paying for it now as a charging Gerts comes from the middle Van Hooydonck cracks early and will be last in the group.
Per now start to look strong on the left side of the road and it's going to be between him and Gerts as the line looms
Gerts holds off Per the dutch champion manages to hold off the Slovenia champion both went deep on the final climb but the hill helped Gerts.
Anderberg grabs 3rd on the line from a super strong Debesay, we then have the rest of the favourites group coming across including a fuming Polanc you have to feel for the Slovenia the win was in his hands but this race has thrown up nothing but drama!!
