The Race

The organizer’s favourites are the usual suspects in the C2 cobbles races.

A group of 10 quickly gets away from the peloton, but it took some time until the attacks of riders trying to bridge across resumed. Two riders were allowed to actually try it by the peloton, but pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/elc.png

With 121 km to go the 10 enter the first group of small climbs with a lead of 3’53. The two chasers are back in the peloton.

With 83 km to go the leaders enter the next bumpier part of the race. This times some cobbles sectors are mixed in, so we can expect the gap to be reduced from 3’12 as well as the first splits in the peloton to occur.

Aebi has to chase his former companions though after a puncture.

The Swiss never made it back and with 41 km to go the 9 leaders enter the final part of the race. It’s less hills but more cobbles from now on. The peloton trails by 2’40.

Jones and

Zhupa attacked from the peloton and got a small gap. They’re still 2’15 behind the leaders.

Dillier were also dropped, so there are only 4 leaders remaining. The attack from the peloton was shut down, but on the third to last cobbled sector the gap is still 1’30. It’s clearly well possible to catch the break, but for this no hesitations are allowed in the pack.

There haven’t been any hesitations and the break is easily rolled over when the favourites started their attacks. With 6 km to go the leading groups enter the last cobbled sector. We have 3 leaders at the moment with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/ubs.png

Teggart attacked again and is now solo in the lead. He has only 2.3 km to go and a lead of 29’’ to the first 8 chasers who consist of the other riders mentioned.

When the chasers arrive at the red kite his lead is up to 41’’. And the next chasing group is closing in too, so there’s a messy sprint for second coming in.

Teggart takes as massive solo win here!
