is it just me, or does the Giro d'Italia just get easier every year?
i'm in my 3rd season and the queen stage of the Giro this year is quite pathetic to be honest. there's hardly any decent climbs there.
let me know if this occurs in your game aswell

Unless the DB changes it, the variants stay the same |

I'm playing the Giro in the 2nd season (in my story) and I have pretty hard stages in front of my riders.
Can you post some profiles just to compare?

You must be playing the V2 variant. Still, even though there are only three really hard mountain stages in it, one of them ends with the climb of the Zoncolan, the other has the Passo di Gavia, and the queen stage has the Passo Rolle, Valles, Fedaia, Costalunga, Lavaza, ending in the Alpe di Pampeago. Hardly pathetic, if you ask me!
I'd only agree that this route seems "easier" if you had already gone through the V3 or V4 variants, which I find the hardest routes in the whole game. It's a shame they are so bug-ridden: simulating isn't that fun.
V3 has an incredibly harsh stage sequence. First, there is a stage which ends with the Scanuppia, then another with the Passo Costalunga, Pordoi, Falzarego, Gardena and the Edelweiss, a short "relaxing" one with the Passo Rombo and Fuorn, and then the killer stage with the Stelvio, the Mortirolo and the Gavia. And there are still the Agnello and the Izoard to be dealt with later. *uff*
As for V4, not only does it practically begin with the Blockhaus and one of the TTs is the climb of the Mortirolo, but there are in fact two queen stages as well: one with the Stelvio, the Gavia, the Passo Tonale, ending in the Malga Mare, and the other with the Agnello, the Col de Vars, La Bonnette and finally Isola 2000.
Still, after any of these, every route would seem pathetic. |

Sounds like a typical early 90s Tour stage |

Mesq: Bug ridden? Care to go into depth with that? That would make it possible for DB makers to fix it for future releases |

Many stages have incorrect mileage (I saw a few funny screenshots about this here at PCM Daily), and the mountain stages, particularly in V4, crash all the time (probably some badly placed objects, or some unfeasible slopes???). |

The problem with the incorrect mileage is that (as far as I am aware) you can only program into the DB the set length of the first variant of the tour. So every tour afterwards would appear to give the incorrect length. (Or you can program it to change and the DB maker is just being lazy).

I don't think that's true. You should be able to set the stages' length in the variant description file. I don't know if there's a bug that 'inactivates' this, though. |

So then, it's the DB makers laziness then.

For the first variant (first season races) the data is taken from the DB.
For other variantes (second, third, fourth, etc.), the data is taken from the variant's XML file and the DB is ignored |

The mileage in V3 (the one which starts in the Czech Republic) is often wrong by two or three kms, but I wouldn't call it a major bug (I don't know, perhaps some buildings or bends in the road may extend the 3D stage a bit longer). Now, the V4 mileage is utterly wrong, even the prologue (!) doesn't get it right.

I was able to fix this by editing the "dyn_variant" file with the Advanced Editor, One might say this isn't such a big deal after all (it does ruin your studying of the stage profile nonetheless, particularly for the gamers who don't have the fan-made tools), but there are still too many problems with the 3D stages, I was never able to complete the V4_10 stage, as it always crashed.
And this is a real shame, because the Giro V4 is easily my favourite route in the game... |

Attach the variant xml stage file (found in CM_stages somewhere) and I'll take a look at it and fix it for you if i can.

No doubt about it an awesome Giro. It's a shame that stage that is impossible to get to the finish without crashing an answer to this problem would be very welcome

Here we go.
Usually, it crashes in the descent from the Passo di Radici (the penultimate climb ). I'd really appreciate if you were able to find what's wrong with this stage.
Thanks for your time
EDIT: Fixed the attachment
