Stage 3 Report

The sprinters have had their fun in the Tour of Norway, now it is time for the time trialists to claim the mantle. They have 30k of nice flat roads to show their stuff. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/ino.png Dunbar is the favorite to win the race and today is his chance to seize control. He tops the favorites list.

But that doesn’t last long as another guy who lost a lot on stage 1 is pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/zal.png Beniusis. He might have hoped to contest the GC, that dream is over but he does set the best time on this stage – 33’51.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/trg.png Norsgaard is another who lost a lot of time on Stage 1. He slots into third 59 seconds behind Beniusis, not a great time, as he is also 37 seconds behind pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/spr.png Maccagli.

Haugard is the last good time among riders who lost time on Stage 1, so the first rider to finish within 2’37 of him will take over the GC lead. That rider is pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/gct.png Knotten, he loses 15 seconds to Haugard. Since Knotten and most of the rest started on the same time he will be the marker for GC leader.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/mck.png Daniel puts in a top 10 time on the day, + 0’36th, 4th on virtual GC but it is a long time since anyone threatened Haugard’s lead on the stage.

He loses 20 seconds to Haugard, not even good enough for the virtual GC lead which still sits with Knotten.
