The Race

The organizer’s favourites are nor surprise at all as in all of the cobbles races.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0001.jpg

It took quite a while for the break to be established. Now we have 5 riders in front with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/pol.png Barthe, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/mos.png Nommela, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/akm.png Räim, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/jur.png Kung and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/fas.png Havik. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/pum.png Zegklis was also part of the break but was dropped in the first cobbled sector and trails by a minute now. The peloton is another 2’47 behind.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0002.jpg

The Greek is back in the peloton 25 km later. The other 5 have a gap of 4 minutes.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0003.jpg

With 75 km to go the first cobbled sectors and hills take their toll and there are the first short-lived splits in the peloton. They probably won’t last, but some riders will pay later for the efforts needed to come back now. The break still has 3’22.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0004.jpg

With 60 km to go the two Estonians are dropped from the break.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0005.jpg

5 km later the gap of the three remaining leaders is down to 1’12. The peloton is split once again though the gap isn’t big actually. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/ziz.png Gaday is the biggest name not in the first peloton.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0006.jpg

The break is over with 46 km to go. The peloton is down to 55 riders (including pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/ziz.png Gaday).

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0007.jpg

Shortly afterwards pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/cdb.png Per is the first favourite to attack. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/rab.png Gerts is on his wheel. The two have 20’’ to a heavily reduced peloton of 21 riders. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/ziz.png Gaday and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/tti.png Kamyshev are the biggest names missing.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0008.jpg

The attack is finally shut down, but new attacks follow. Now it’s pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/aab.png Wisniowski on the attack with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/ced.png Siric on his wheel. The first chasers are pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/evo.png Polanc, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/mol.png Altur, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/kng.png Tiller, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/gzl.png Teunissen and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/cdb.png Per. The third group consists of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/grm.png Pedersen, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/eav.png Spengler, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/tti.png Senechal, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/rab.png Gerts, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/fas.png Van Hooydonck, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/akm.png Anderberg, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/jur.png Theuns and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/pol.png Ferreira.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0009.jpg

With 25 km to go the two leaders are still some seconds in front. But only pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/aab.png Wisniowski is contributing while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/ced.png Siric just stays on his wheel. The first two chasing groups have merged to a group of 13.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0010.jpg

After the two attackers were caught there were several attacks that lead nowhere. With 13 km to go pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/grm.png Pedersen has a small gap to 12 chasers. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/pol.png Ferreira and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/eav.png Spengler were dropped.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0011.jpg

The Dane is still in front after the last cobbled sector, his gap is 17’’ to a group of 10. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/mol.png Altur, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/fas.png Van Hooydonck and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/kng.png Tiller were the next riders to be dropped.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0012.jpg

With 4 km to go pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/grm.png Pedersens gap is slowly increasing. He now has 29’’ and the chasers seem to be hesitating.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0013.jpg

But with 2 km to go pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/evo.png Polanc attacked and the gap is down to 9’’.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0014.jpg

And under the red kite pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/grm.png Pedersen is caught while the sprint is launched. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/cdb.png Per is in the lead now.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0015.jpg

The Slovenian is still in front with 400 m to go, but pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/rab.png Gerts, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/tti.png Senechal and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/aab.png Wisniowski are right by his side.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0016.jpg

But in the end pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/cdb.png Per is the strongest and takes the win! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/tti.png Senechal finishes in 2nd.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0017.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/rab.png Gerts wins the sprint for 3rd against pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/aab.png Wisniowski. Then it’s pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/jur.png Theuns, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/gzl.png Teunissen, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/ced.png Siric and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/akm.png Anderberg in 5th to 8th.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0018.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/evo.png Polanc and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/grm.png Pedersen complete the top 10.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0019.jpg

Now the riders come to the finish one by one. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/kng.png Tiller, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/mol.png Altur, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/fas.png Van Hooydonck, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/eav.png Spengler and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/pol.png Ferreira are 11th to 15th.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Reports/PT/E3Prijs/PCM0020.jpg

Congratulations to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/cdb.png Per for another much needed win!
