Circulo de Juárez
It's time once again for the Circulo de Juarez, the big HC Mexican fiesta for the sprinters. 5 stages, all sprinting and nothing but sprinting. Defending champion Mannien won’t be back as he is doing his sprinting in the PT this year but as expected we have the whole enchilada of PCT sprinters.
This year’s PCT features two particularly strong sprinters in Coquard and Ewan and they top the favorite list among 10 80+ sprinters and another 7 79’s. With nobody having two on the list it means 17 of the 19 teams in the race bring 79+ sprinters, the odd men out are the SEE Turtles (the only CT team at the race) with Keough and Sony Force – India with Kulikovskiy.
Rider | FL | SP | AC | RS | Coquard | 73 | 84 | 83 | 74 | Ewan | 75 | 83 | 81 | 71 | Vesely | 73 | 81 | 80 | 68 | Farantakis | 74 | 81 | 80 | 72 | Zabel | 74 | 81 | 79 | 70 | Ahlstrand | 72 | 81 | 79 | 70 | Bonifazio | 79 | 80 | 80 | 75 | Liu | 74 | 80 | 80 | 69 | Aniolkowski | 76 | 80 | 79 | 74 | Einhorn | 74 | 80 | 78 | 71 | Afewerki | 73 | 79 | 80 | 70 | Coutinho | 72 | 79 | 80 | 74 | Perera | 71 | 79 | 80 | 73 | Rodenberg | 74 | 79 | 79 | 77 | Nur Hasan | 74 | 79 | 78 | 74 | Boudat | 73 | 79 | 78 | 74 | Kamberaj | 75 | 79 | 78 | 73 |
Vesely and Farantakis are the most accomplished sprinters other than the big two, so look for one of them to flop badly. Aniolkowski has had a great time in PT wildcards so far and will hope to carry that form over here. Kamberaj is last man on this list but has consistently surprised and does bring strong secondaries.
Coquard has Huertas and Jimenez Retana as a lead out and some solid roulers to do the chasing in Samudio and Arias Villanueva.
Ewan has Contreras and Baska for the lead out although in Guadeloupe Contreras did a lot of chasing. The team also includes some great depth for the chasing with all the other team members at least 75 flat.
Farantakis brings Edmondson and Koumpetsos as a leadout and a set of decent chasers, particularly, Mugisha.
Vesely has Dakteris and Videika for the lead out and Tediashvili and Tarvis as chasers.
Key Leadout Riders
Rider | FL | SP | AC | RS | Dakteris | 74 | 76 | 75 | 68 | Videika | 74 | 74 | 79 | 67 | Edmondson | 73 | 77 | 75 | 71 | Koumpetsos | 74 | 76 | 76 | 73 | Contreras | 72 | 78 | 80 | 75 | Baska | 76 | 76 | 77 | 76 | Jimenez Retana | 71 | 77 | 79 | 68 | Huertas | 75 | 74 | 76 | 74 |

Come on breakaways!
Hopefully Keough or Tivani gets a chance to sprint here occasionally, but we would also love to get a KOM jersey or otherwise benefit from a week of breakaways.
surprised not to see any CT counterparts alongside me - even if just to grab xp.

Absolutely 0 expectations for us here, but Coutinho has done some of his best work in strong fields so hoping he pulls through once more.
Thanks for the preview!

This Can go in all sort of directions. Farantakis on paper a good Bet for a rider around 5th in the GC, but knowing the game he could just aswell win or finish 17th. Fingers crossed the lottery is in our favor here.

Something similar to Guadeloupe would be fine. Guess a Top 15 would be a realistic expectation in this field.
Thanks for the preview Ulrich

The Bonifazio/Mareczko combo does not seem to get much appreciation. Let's prove them wrong!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Thanks UU for the preview!
We really need to score here in order to not slide too far away in the rankings. All pressure on Liu to perform.

Hoping Nur Hasan can surprise and sneak himself into the top-10 here. He was really unlucky in Guadalupe, so hopefully he can get on the right wheel a few times here.
Thanks for the preview.

Very good start for us. Yechezkel is the KOM king it seems in races like this. Great 5th place from Kuli as well.
Congrats to sammy and thanks for the report

Just wait until Quispe decides to really go for KoM-points instead of chilling a bit like today. Yechezkel will be a nice second in the final KoM nonetheless

I though Ahlstrand's positioning was bad but to come back to fourth is very good. Shame Paleni does not have the experience to hang onto the peloton just yet.

Einhorn has stepped up really well to take the opening stage here. Unfortunately we didn't predict being in a position to defend the leaders jersey so have brought what is mainly a young squad around him so hopefully that won't cost us too badly on GC by the end of the race.

Congrats to sammyt and thanks for the report UU.
Lucky Zabel got Ewan's wheel Einhorn was on Zabel and these two were 1st and 3rd while Ewan was 15th.
But it can easily be totally reversed tomorrow, who can tell.
Enjoy it while it lasts.

I would love to find a breakaway OR a sprint top 20 - either one.
Great reports UU!
