Game Freezes at Random

I've just bought the game after spending way too much time in pcm 2007 Wink
I play career only, and the game freezes at random when im in the career menus. It freezes the computer to the point where i have to hold in the power button to reboot. To clearify, 3d works great, it's only when looking at my team, or reading news, or looking at stages and so on. It doesnt seem to be tied to any sub menu in particular.
I have updated my graphics drivers and read through the faq and all the threads about crashes here. I run the latest patch from pcm 2008, but other than that it's completly unmodified.

Any ideas?
