I have started a Career mode game, with a custom team.
I picked up riders so as to keep the budget under the Pro Continental limit.
The idea would have been to get promoted and bring better riders as the team grows.
That being the case, I was extremely disappointed to see the points system for signing riders. I spent my points budget and I was only able to bring back half of the riders from my team that had expiring contracts. No chance to pick up any new riders so as to raise the overall quality of the team. Money budget was very good, as the team was generally overperforming, but money played no role in signing riders. It is only the points that matter. And it's even more questionable as the riders that I did sign all wanted less money for salary than they previously had.
So money, which is directly influenced by team performance, doesn't seem to matter at all, while points, which seem to be totally intangible, dictate everything.
In conclusion, I find the points systems unbelievably underwhelming and very much unrealistic.
Am I not understanding the points system properly?
Are there ways to acquire more points?
Any suggestions about how would one be able to truly 'grow' a team?
